I made a guaranteed reservation for this hotel three weeks prior to my stay through the Marriott website. I am a Marriott Bonvoy Elite member and always, if possible, stay at Marriott properties. Upon arrival, after a 5 hour drive, I attempted to check in. I was told that "Sorry, we don't have room for you. We have moved you to the Drury Inn and Suites just down the road." I told the young lady that was not acceptable and please find a nearby Marriott property rather than the Drury Suites (not a favorite chain of mine anyway). After 30 minutes she did find a room at the Marriott hotel about a mile away. I was upset on several levels. First, that they would move someone with a guaranteed reservation without consent to an off brand property. Second, that they would not have contacted me to inform me of the switch. I suspect it was because the rate I had booked was 2/3 of what they were booking the hotel on the day I arrived. I had wanted to arrive a day early, but when I saw the rates for that extra night (in excess of $235 for an additional weekday night, I decided not to arrive early. Clearly to this hotel, brand loyalty doesn't exist; the word "guaranteed" means nothing; and customer service is sadly lacking. For obvious reasons, I won't be staying here ever.
