Hampton Inn Charleston-Downtown (Civic Center)

could use a bit more detail cleaning....great hospitality....

Room was not clean, bathroom dirty and no soap. I like the Hampton brand generally, so I let it go. The next day after checking in, I asked the front desk to clean the room (after they told me they don’t typically provide housekeeping until the guest’s 4th night. WhenI returned from my business event, the towels were changed and beds were made, but the tub and toilet were not cleaned. Stains on the dresser remained and nothing was moved to dust. A plastic hanger left behind from a previous guest was still on the hanger on the back of the bathroom door. It was just gross. Made me reconsider booking the Hampton brand again.

The room had wallpaper coming off of the wall in the bathroom. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the bathroom door had to stay open to let the steam out which is probably why the wall paper was peeling. The breakfast was great. The pillows and beds were good.

It is a great location, right off the interstate and a few blocks from the city center—friendly and professional staff. The staff was very welcoming and available should I need anything. The decor had been updated. It's not a noisy hotel. I would stay here again.

Very nice hotel and very convenient to do business in the area. The staff was very friendly and the check in process was quick and easy. Nice beds, clean bathrooms and nice amenities in the room. The breakfast selection was very good the next morning and the has something for everyone. I really enjoyed my stay!

First impression- smelled like **** as soon as we walked in! Bathroom facets were falling off the shower wall. But the topper was - NO HOT Water! When I told the front desk clerk, she said that has been a problem since they did construction. She said when too many people get showers at the same time there is not enough pressure for the hot water! (Now we got up at 7 am and only 10 people at breakfast.) So, they knowingly have customers for which they know they won't have hot water!

We were somewhat disappointed with this hotel. The staff was all very friendly and helpful but the room wasn’t very clean. The sheets and pillow case had some blood on them, the floor was somewhat dirty and there was dust built up. We were offered another room but we had already unpacked and were ready for bed. There was only one person on duty so we were offered clean sheets and I changed the bedding and noticed then that the mattress was stained. We asked for a quiet room and we’re given one on the 5th floor but you could still hear some traffic. The hotel is near older less cared for buildings and there were homeless people around the parking lot. The hotel has cameras outside watching the area. There isn’t a safe in the room. The bed was comfortable. There was also a good variety of foods offered for breakfast.

This hotel was not clean, nothing around the hotel in the way of restaurants in walking distance, food on the breakfast bar was skimpy and not replenished, just not a good experience at all. Staff were nice, room was ok, but just not a good overall experience.

My wife and I stayed here recently and wanted to say how nice the staff working there was. From check in we asked about a place to eat in the area as we were both very hungry. Both the receptionist on duty and a housekeeper standing nearby offered us a few options to try. To take time out of their busy day to stop and chat with us about this was very nice. I wish'd we had gotten their names to mention to their management and give them kudos. The hotel was clean and breakfast the next morning, delicious and constantly managed with constant restocking. A truly wonderful experience and we'd stay again when in the area.
