Rodd Charlottetown

The old style hotel was a pleasure to visit. The old wooden room door lead to a very comfortable room with modern amenities, especially in the bathroom.

Very nice hotel. Staff and service were awesome. Walking distance to town and water. Rooms are being remodeled and updated. We stayed in an older room, which was very nice and clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay there again.

Our tour guide told us this was originally a railway hotel and built without ensuite, therefore, when private bathrooms were added, it was very small. I guess it was his way of letting us know to expect small rooms. He wasn't kidding. Room access was by physical keys. We were assigned room 215 overlooking a rooftop. We were 3 people staying in one room and basically had no space to laydown our 3 luggages. With 1 luggage rack, we had to repurpose the top of the mini fridge and the one chair in the room to place our luggage. It also meant no chair to sit down, we have to sit on the bed. The tabletop surface is basically the secretary desk. And we had to close it half the time to have space to maneuver around the room. Two double beds, not queen-sized, in room. Not a lot of light sources but with the room being so small, what lamps they had provided sufficient brightness. Two complimentary bottles of water were in the fridge. The bathroom has no vanity top surface but there is shelving to hold toiletries. Shower area contains no separate light so is a bit dim when you pull close the shower curtain. Shower water pressure and drainage were quite good. The rooms weren't very clean and housekeeping likely didn't do a thorough job as evidenced by a worn sock that was left behind by the TV and it wasn't noticed. The sheets were a bit wrinkled under the covers and I was concerned maybe it's already been slept on and not changed out. But it smelled of detergent so I would give housekeeping the benefit of the doubt they don't know how to make a tight bed. The hotel website mentions a rooftop patio but we forgot to go check it out.

The hotel is tired and not the cleanest. The facilities don’t all work (sauna). The sound between rooms made it terrible to sleep in or fall asleep. I would not recommend this to anyone who wants to relax or enjoy a good night sleep. Prices are too high for what you get.

My husband and I recently got married at the Rodd Charlottetown, and we loved our experience! The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure the day went smoothly and all of our needs were met. The price for the services rendered was very reasonable, and the food was absolutely incredible. They helped make the day truly memorable!

Lovely old style hotel very conveniently located. Large wedding taking place when we were there but no problem for us - decorations were beautiful. We didn't eat at the hotel, used the bar which was largely empty. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice pool in the basement, easy to walk everywhere, parking available.

For those seeking a hotel with accessibility, the Rodd Charlottetown has an elevator that only goes to the 4th floor. We were on the 5th floor, and this wasn't a huge issue as we only had tote bags with us, but would have been annoying if we had suitcases, or someone with us who has trouble with stairs. The hallways are dark and musty, so they have dehumidifiers running. Our room was large, but the pull out sofa bed deemed as a double, was very tiny, so could only sleep one person and looked like it was from 1932. Not comfortable. The room was fully carpeted and the carpet felt damp under our feet so we kept our sandals on. The king bed mattress was comfortable. If there was air conditioning we couldn't tell and it was hot in the room. The bathroom was fine, though the plug lifted out of the sink and was covered in soap scum and mold - and the shower tiles also had soap scum over the grout. For $500/night, we would expect more. The old world charm feel is lovely, but this hotel room felt just old, run down and needing renovation. The front desk and restaurant staff were great, super friendly and the food in the restaurant was delicious. Their outdoor seating was nice. We would not choose to stay at this hotel again, but would stay elsewhere and go there for a meal.

RODD was able to accommodate our earlier than expected arrival (thank you Dershell Walker). Room was lovely and beds very comfortable. My sister used pool which see enjoyed and staff were all so welcoming. Convenient to have dining room in hotel. Location excellent for traversing downtown

We stayed one night in a king bed room. This is a beautiful old property that is being updated. Our room was a fair size and the bathroom was spacious. The wood trim is very nice. Make sure your door is closed, you need to turn the handle for it to close. This hotel still uses keys for the rooms. We didn't have breakfast as the dining room was busy and there were only 2 servers in sight. Parking is limited and the spots are small. When we were leaving a delivery truck was blocking us in. They were not too keen to move their truck so we could leave (we had a tee time booked and couldn't wait 20 minutes for their delivery to be done). I was happy they finally relented and we didn't have to ask the hotel to intervene.
