The Charles Hotel

My son booked this hotel for me and my husband he stated to the clearly im disabled and needed a lower floor when arriving we had to park at the back of the hotel and climb a spiral staircase of at least 50 steps to enter the building when on arrival we was given our key card and our room was on 1st floor yes more stairs the carpets leading up were filthy the walls and bannisters to on arriving in our room it was what I expected after seeing the hall way this also was dirty the overall room we were given was dirty the bed the shower the window sills the carpet and walls were all stained we was suppose to be celebrating our anniversary we stayed 1 night out the full weekend we had booked and left

O my days This place is absolutely filthy dirty Room nothing like the website tiny and unclean stains up the walls no one on reception just a phone number. You can't get parked in there so call car park. Toilet seat was falling off only clean thing about this place was the towel in the bathroom

Place could do with a good clean . Like others couldn’t check in till 5 even though it clearly states from 3 on website . Parking is a nightmare as I parked in carpark at back then when I got up at 5 to go to work I found I couldn’t get my van out and had to wait for others to go. Room was very basic and the carpets felt so dirty I wore socks . Overall experience I’d say was bad and definitely wouldn’t recommend . I had booked for 7 nights but ended up leaving after 3

Avoid this place, our check in time was between 3 and 4pm, we arrived at just after 3 to find the hotel locked, we rang the doorbell and tried to phone but no answer to either. Two guests in the hotel came down to go out so they let us in the front door and we then sat in an empty reception area for 1 hour. In the end we had to find alternative accommodation as we were in Chatham for a party in the evening and needed to get ready. We were about to leave when somebody finally turned up and didn't really seem bothered that we had been waiting for over an hour to check in. We told him we had found somewhere else to stay so we didn't even get to see the room but I feel that we probably had a lucky escape.

A lovely boutique hotel With a lovely Indian restaurant attached. For a new hotel, they have done really well. They recognise there’s a few small touches to finish off and make it near perfect. I’d recommend to anyone Definitely will stay again

Lovely stay at The Charles Hotel. Lovely clean room, comfortable beds and pillows, great shower. Polite, friendly staff and a great restaurant attached to the hotel. Would like to see a lift though as we were on the top floor :). We would love to go back in the future
