I stayed here in March, I previously reviewed this place but I believe it's had a refresh, it's made no difference. I stayed in a Plus room which wasn't cheap even with no breakfast. In short it's really not great. The auto check in machines don't work so there was sizeable queue at check in. The room is not clean, it clearly isn't cleaned properly and was looking tatty. There is dust and I guess human skin under the bed and down the side of the fridge was disgusting. There were stains on the carpet and mould in the bathroom. Repairs had been bodged and the door stop was hanging off. I emailed a complaint, got an automatic reply stating I would hear within 5 days .....and of course heard nothing. Tells you all you need to know about their attitude to customers.

This hotel has spent a lot on upgrading its social spaces but they need to spend more on upgrading the rooms! We stayed in 103, The Bathroom was mouldy! it smelt like B.O! There was filler on the wall! Blue tak on the TV clearly not cleaned from the last guest and lastly the Tea and coffee was not filled! such a shame as we stayed in the Brentwood one the week before and it was 100% better then this hotel.

We were welcomed with warmth and one of the staff had given our children something to eat(sweets). The evening staff were very friendly. The bed was comfortable. But the only thing that’s a bit disappointing was that some of the staff didn’t know about the promotion. For example, they’re advertising that children can eat for £1 if adults order a meal and a drink. They have discussed it and confirm it if it’s really true. And when the food has been served, my child’s food is nit thouroughly cooked. It’s still a bit cold from frozen. My husband’s grill steak, they forgot to serve the sauce so he need to wait for it before he could eat.

I chose to book at Premier Inn over the nearby Holiday Inn specifically because their website stated that the rooms were equipped with air conditioning. In contrast, Holiday Inn had clearly mentioned their AC was not working due to a fault. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the room at Premier Inn was extremely stuffy and had an unpleasant smell. Despite the claim of having air conditioning, there was none – only a small fan was provided. To make matters worse, the window couldn’t even be opened for ventilation. With outside temperatures reaching 33°C during the day, the conditions inside the room were unbearable. Very disappointing and misleading advertising.

What can I say other than I’m shocked at how absolutely perfect the staff are here they truly are amazing made my trip so much more easy and comfortable from checking in they knew I had driven a long way so gave me a room far away from noise so I could get very important rest then staff checked I was ok if there was any thing at all they could do to help me then we have breakfast WELL what a truly magical team never have I had such amazing friendly service from start to finish making sure every part of my morning was started ok and them they take time to see how you are they just go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as perfect as all of there smiles never will you see a member of staff not smiling THANK YOU SO SO MUCH . Nikki Richard chantel liz and Giulio you truly are gifts from God and the Hotel is extremely lucky to have you .

All nice & clean, staff very helpful & friendly towards us. Breakfast was really good & my wife is a vegetarian so we asked for none bacon & veg sausage etc & they were very accommodating, very good location a short walk into Chelmsford city centre with all the bar’s & restaurants, plus the bar at the hotel was also good. We have stayed here a few times & never had a bad stay to date for sure 👍🏼

4 gripes about this hotel. First, the loo seat had not been cleaned properly. Secondly, the mugs supplied for tea had been wiped with a very dirty cloth and had to be washed before we could use them. Thirdly, only one bath towel supplied and the member of staff at reception gave off the impression that it was inconvenient to fetch another towel but the most gross and disgusting gripe was we discovered fresh human bodily fluids on the mattress protector from a previous guest. This was most disturbing and we were reluctant to actual sleep on this mattress.
