Theme Hotels & Resorts (Chengdu Chunxi Taikoo Li)

I like this hotel because it is very convenient to the train station and one stop away from Chunxi road. Very easy to get around. The reception was friendly and the room was spacious and clean. Amenities were also well provided for. Good value for what we paid. Although breakfast is a disappointment. I suggest to eat elsewhere instead. There are also lots of street food and convenience stalls downstairs. So you will never go hungry.

the photos provided by the property must have been taken a decade ago, since it’s opening it has never been renovated or fixed, it’s totally worn out, shabby, with lots of mold, plaster falling off; the smell of moist and mold persisted too; the floor has not been washed for days; all furniture was covered in dust; water pressure was weak and appeared either too hot or extremely cold; it was a very late hour, that’s why I didn’t request to change the room since i was flying same day anyway. I wonder how it managed to keep good rating until now; probably due to proximity to the downtown

When we entered our room we could smell that it was a smoking room. I went back to the reception asking (with my translator app) whether it would be possible to get a non-smoking room. The guy nodded and gave a new room card. The new room smelled even stronger. I went back showing a non-smoking icon this time to avoid confusion and they told me that smoking is allowed in all rooms but „the room gets cleaned, ventilated and there is no smoke smell“. They offered a room upgrade but we declined, not knowing whether that one would also have a strong smoke smell and asked back for the first room which was less bad. Besides the smell it was a quite old room (cracks in tiles and sink, stains on the walls) and few things like rain shower and hairdryer were not working. Location was good though. Breakfast was ok but at 8:30 most things were already empty and not refilled.

Very friendly receptionist. Upgraded our room for free and allowed us to keep our luggage there when we were travelling to other cities.
