Shanshui S Hotel (Chengdu Kuanzhai Alley Tianfu Square)

The first thing I would like to mention is the attentive and friendly staff: reception, at breakfast, room cleaning - everyone was kind, friendly and helpful in everything. We got quick responses to our enquiries on Wechat - in the evening we asked about the use of appliances and a kind lady came and showed us how to use the washing machine and air conditioning. The girl at reception (unfortunately I didn't remember the name, but it's a very nice girl with glasses) always answered any questions we had. Also, she even remembered our parcels from Taobao ordered to the hotel and when she saw us, she told us they had arrived. And then helped us unpack them. You could really feel the care in all the actions. Next is a lovely big room with beautiful decor. The large round bed is cosy and soft and the bed linen is changed on request. Good housekeeping. Every day we had towels changed and bottles of water replenished. In addition, we could always get extra water in the lobby. And noticing that we leave the room later, they did not disturb us early in the morning. The room was quiet! Although there was one day when the tarmac was being laid at night outside with all the accompanying noise, but it really does not apply to the hotel. The air conditioning and fridge worked perfectly. We were pleased with the presence of a mini washing machine (laundry detergent is available and replenished) and steamer in the room - such is not often met in hotels. The hairdryer had good sufficient power. Sockets are universal. A bonus was a large mirror in the bathroom and a full-length mirror in the hall. Also on one of the days we were unexpectedly brought a plate of fruit in the room, it was very nice! The lift to the floors with hotel rooms is operated by guest cards, which guarantees more security. To name things that could be improved, it is a bit dim lighting in the room. Also the tap in the bathroom sink was tight and seemed a little unreliable. We had breakfast included - good, reasonably varied choice of food. The staff are friendly and keep a good eye on everything. They also remembered my preferences: I like to drink tea in the morning - and at one point they themselves came over and asked me if they could make me tea... so thoughtful! There is also afternoon tea with desserts in the lobby. Plus to the above, we like the location of the hotel - convenient, it's in an important central area with lots of shops, cafes, parks around, and metro stations close by. The only thing is, if you're with multiple suitcases, consider that the path itself from the metro is nice but uneven and runs along knobbly tiles and crowded narrow sections. Probably the best option with suitcases would be to take a taxi. Our stay all week was excellent. This is a hotel we would love to return to. Thank you!

The hotel offers luggage storage and the staff was very kind. Located at 5 minutes walk from people's park in a quiet lane with local street food, we had a spacious room with view. The panda plush toy is their welcone gift. Absolutely reccommend!

While the hotel is not really bad, I would not go back for several reasons. First, it positions itself as non-smoking hotel, however, they do not really enforce it. Most of the neighbours smoked inside their rooms, with doors wide open and in the hallway. When I brought the staff’s attention to this, they simply asked the smokers to close their door and asked if we needed a refresher for our room, which stank to the smoke. Second, while the hotel is not too far from the metro, it’s not really close either, the street in which it is situated is kinda depressing and the view is a real mess. Furthermore, the rooms feature a small washing machine, which is nice - until you realise there is no dryer. Neither in the room nor anywhere in the hotel. The positives: the beds are super comfortable, the staff is friendly and easy to reach via WeChat. The rooms are quite spacious, seem new and well-made.

This is the best hotel we had so far when we are in chengdu. Staff entertained us very well especially for the staff ID number 332, thanks a lot for the great hospitality. Room is really spacious and clean, facilities are all complete. Washing machine is also available in our room. Welcome snacks are also available in our room like biscuits, nuts and yogurts. Universal charging cable also available. This hotel also quite near to mosque huangcheng, about 10 mins walk.

Great hotel in the city centre! The location is perfect: close to the metro, with a park, museums, and other attractions nearby. The room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed — a sofa and a fridge, and there was even a small washing machine. The beds were big and very comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was varied and delicious. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back!

I booked this hotel and paid a bit extra because it advertised non smoking public areas extra bedding minibar and fridge city view restaurant executive lounge but It had non of these. I asked for a working mini bar fridge for medication that needs to be kept cool was told no rooms have working fridge it’s only storage and I insisted and was told level 3 breakfast room kitchen has a fridge unacceptable as medication needs to be with me and separate from contamination. I asked for ice bucket and ice and I got a plastic bag of ice. My husband climbed under counter pulled out fridge and found a power point we turned it on and put ice in hoping it will cool or I will lose 1 month of medication that I can’t get locally. Took 8 hours but fridge cooled we had gone out looking for ice box and purchased emergency container just in case we couldn’t get the fridge going. I asked for a soft bed and city view we got a hard mattress on a wooden platform Pillow like a rock with straw matt on one side. I was told that there’s no extra bedding in whole hotel. We had by then had a bad night sleep and sick of the false advertising and I screenshot the room description and a cleaner turned up with 2 pillows and 2 pillow cases they had possibly got from one of the rooms. We ate breakfast with people smoking cigarettes at the tables no one stopped them. Smoking in lift hallways reception and we had to put a towel under our door to reduce the smoke. There’s really no western breakfast food except fruit and hard boiled eggs. The staff are very sweet and very happy but we had the feeling that they were not expecting us and had not reviewed our booking. Toilets in breakfast restaurant and reception are smelly squat toilets.

This hotel was our best experience in China. Super convenient and clean. Everything is in good condition. Service is outstanding, they even managed to do laundries for us while we were at breakfast. Food was rich in variety and delicious. Staff very helpful and polite.
