Sungold Designer Hotel (Taikoo Li, Chunxi Road, Chengdu)

It’s our third stay at Sungold within 2 weeks - we couldn’t have found a better place. We have enjoyed its proximity to Taikoo Li, where we had fabulous western meals at Tivano and Fields Concord, especially after weeks of local Chinese cuisine. Service is consistently excellent, warm welcome, genuine helpfulness (again, they helped us with our laundry when the washing machine was occupied). A free upgrade to an ‘infinity’ room was a really nice touch. Highly recommended as a base to explore Chengdu and surrounding attractions such as Sanxingdui, Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Dujiangyan, and Qingcheng.

Really nice hotel room. The sceeen projector was easy to Connect to via screensharing. I wish the bathroom, shower and bathtub were a little bit more private, as i was traveling with a friend. Nice and friendly workers at the frontdesk. The room was spacious, but still very affordable.

Can not say enough good things about this hotel. Looking for the perfect place to relax during your visit to Chengdu?? Sungold is perfect. The staff are so attentive and helpful, the room was spotless, modern, and well designed. The highlight of my stay was the spring bath, I’ve never stayed somewhere for this price that was this incredible! Absolutely recommend

I like the room with swimming pool and gym, it costs $40 per time, equipped with a bathtub that I like it the most.

The hotel’s biggest advantage is its excellent location. It’s within walking distance of Taikoo Li and Chunxi Road, making it very convenient for shopping, dining, and exploring Chengdu. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but the lighting was quite dim, and there were mirrors everywhere, which gave it a bit of a “love hotel” vibe. Because of the design, I think it’s more suitable for couples than for solo travelers or friends traveling together. Overall, it’s a good choice if location is your top priority, but the room design may not appeal to everyone.

one of the smoothest hotel experiences i've had in china; it's family-owned and the staff are warm and friendly! we received a room upgrade free of charge upon arrival an our room was clean, modern, spacious, and quiet. there's free coffee and mini snacks on the 4th floor, along with a self-serve free laundry (wash + dry combined) and microwave. the only downside is that the gym is +40rmb per person, but i found the facility to be run-down, dirty, and with some broken machines. overall a very positive experience. we rebooked sungold hotel again after we return from our trip to jiuzhaigou (九寨沟)!

I was surprised by how nice this hotel was. A bit older than the pictures portrayed but the staff are very nice and its a convenient location.

We had a very good stay overall and everything was great. The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and the experience was very pleasant. The only issue was the air conditioning. It seemed to be set mainly for ventilation, and the room became quite cold during the night. Unfortunately, I caught a cold because of it. Apart from that, everything was excellent and we enjoyed our stay.

Stayed for a night and it was adequate! Excellent location and comfortable. Apart from water pressure & temperature being a little wonky, all was great!
