Stoulgrove Country House B & B

This is a lovely Georgian house with very welcoming owners, immaculately kept with nicely decorated rooms. We had a view over fields from our room. The house is in a rural area close to the England / Wales border with plenty to do in the nearby area: Forest of Dean, Symonds Yat, River Wye. Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice for vegetarians / gluten free (probably better to contact in advance with dietary requirements). There are restaurants / pubs a short drive away and eating choices in Chepstow, nearby - you might need transport as there is not much in walking distance. Overall, a lovely place to stay.

Clear directions enclosed with our booking confirmation led us down the narrow lane to Stoulgrove House. We wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing for our three night stay, and we were amply rewarded. The renovated Georgian house is a delight. Our "suite" on the top floor (two flights of stairs) was very comfortable with views of the garden and surrounding fields. Sue and Richard are amicable hosts: whether preparing the breakfasts, pointing out what to see in the extensive garden, or recommending places of interest, their local knowledge is immense and they generously and readily share it with their guests. Others have returned to enjoy this experience, which is a recommendation in itself. Given the opportunity, we would too.

You can tell from the picture that this is not a normal B and B! The Georgian facade is matched by the interior accommodation and Sue and Richard are the best of hosts. And dis anyone mention the breakfasts?!

From arrival we were treated like royalty! Extremely friendly, absolutely FANTASTIC accommodation and breakfasts a celebrity chef couldn't beat. Lovely chatting to Sue & Richard, excellent tips for things to do, places to eat and just putting the world to rights. Loved every moment and are looking forward to returning as soon as we can. We stayed for two nights and had the most comfortable and relaxing stay imaginable. Sue and Richard are terrific hosts and their home is quite beautiful. Every detail was taken care of and executed to the highest standards. Nestled next to Chepstow and the beautiful Wye Valley we cannot recommend Stoulgrove and the location more highly. Our teenage son joined us and also thoroughly enjoyed the fully fitted games room with a pool table and tabletop football. The best!

I recently stayed at this beautiful property as part of my birthday celebration with my family. The owner Sue could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We were greeted warmly and shown to our beautiful rooms. The bedrooms have been superbly thought out with comfort in mind. From mood lighting to wonderfully comfortable beds and pleasant décor. The views from the bedrooms are a delight over the garden and rolling fields and countryside. I stayed in the suite which had the bedroom lounge and en-suite. The garden is an absolute delight and is beautifully kept with an abundance of flower borders, patios, orchards and stunning countryside views. Our breakfast was delicious, nothing was too much trouble. Fresh berries, and strawberries, yoghurt, juice, muesli, cereal, and a menu with a choice of cooked breakfast. This is honestly the nicest place to stay in the Chepstow area and I would not hesitate in recommending it. Thank you again for a lovely stay.
