The hotel was very clean and the staff were polite, helpful and courteous. The hotel has an excellent spa and restaurant. The room was clean and an excellent walk in shower.

We have had a lovely stay, and it would only take a few tweaks to make this hotel better. Good: *It's in the perfect location, we took an uber into the centre of Chester for less than £5. *Breakfast was relaxed with a great selection as a buffet service. *Spacious room with all the amenities you need. *Plenty of free parking. *Beautiful grounds and really quiet at night. *Great value for money Needs Improving: *Cleaning standard is average, black mold around the taps in the bathroom that could be easily resolved. *Bathroom floor was desperate for a good mop *Bed wasn't the comfiest as 2 twins fastened together leaving a gap in the middle. *Staffing levels affecting customer service levels, we decided to order room service, took an age to answer the phone and then said could be collected from reception, kind of goes against the point of room service, so we left it, not great for the hotels add on sales if that happens everytime. *No enough bar staff, we ordered food but it was cold and one meal was not what we ordered but too hungry to wait for it to be replaced, apparently fish finger sandwich is identical to fish and chips anyway according to the waitress! Like I said it won't take much for this hotel to raise it's customer service standards to an excellent level, more staff will fix most of the issues, despite everything mentioned we would probably stay again.

We visited on Thursday/Friday for a long overdue one night spa break. We had room 27 which was huge, but cozy. The hotel wasn't too busy and there was more than plenty of parking. We had a lovely 24 hours indeed, in a lovely setting. Reception, spa, massage, waiting and afternoon tea staff were genuinely fantastic with us. We had two trips to the spa and a back/shoulder/neck massage all of which was wonderful...just what we both needed. See picture of afternoon tea...it was lovely and served in a really fitting setting too We'd go back in a heartbeat

Bought a Groupon voucher for spa access & afternoon tea for 2 as a birthday gift, it was such good value, both the spa facilities and afternoon tea were lovely, service from the staff was great and the setting is beautiful! I would definitely recommend! It would be amazing if they did a Groupon that included a treatment, that would be the cherry on the cake!

First of all can I say all staf were lovely especially the lady who booked us in the first day We stayed in the honeymoon suite and was very disappointed ill fitting curtains lots of cobwebs around windows. Lots of scuffs on walls. Paint of the bannister Bedroom door that has a gap into the corridor is noisy from outside I'm guessing staff quarters. Not very romantic to hear for a newly wed couple. Music constantly until I rang reception about 11 in the evening where we heard footsteps above us and music going off. Please please beware of the shower it is lethal, gets very slippery and overflows onto the floor. I had a nasty fall which left me badly bruised. Dinner was awful never in my life have I had such a limited menu with basic items and 3 items unavailable. We paid extra for prawn cocktail which was acceptable but not out standing. No breads offered . No fish no duck or hallumi. We choose steak I opted for rare hubby medium Both of ours was very tough with none of the fat being rendered. My husband swallowed mouthfuls whole being unable to chew. I couldn't and guess attest 40 percent of meat that had tried to be chewed was left on my plate so o basically had skinny fries for main. We paid for blue cheese sauce which I will say was lovely. Didn't wait around for puds. I did tell the waiting staff regarding my meal but nothing said or done. Next day oh dear me if I thought dinner was bad breakfast was disaster. Having to knock on kitchen door to be seated. Had to knock for bowls. Drinks were luck warm out of big steel water kettles. The buffet help yourself was cold not luke warm cold. Horrible ingredients Not once did I see anybody check or replace any of the ingredients. Sausage had ran out and when o got up to leave I checked still empty. It's my guess they cook it all in bulk for first guests and left sitting until the last guests so o basically had toast for breakfast. Staff with drinks in the evening was slow. We brought of complaints to the manager the following day who agreed about the room. Didn't understand the shower and apologised for meals. 50 pound was taken of the bill for cobwebs and my main. The bill was still 225.00 which I feel is very very overpriced and unfair charge what the service we received. We were planning staying another night but after that experience it wasn't even an option Grounds and spa fab

My friend and I visited Crabwell upon arrival it was extremely beautiful and well maintained. You get a real castle vibe from the place. All the reception staff that we made contact with were very friendly and professional and it was a great start to our stay. We went to the bar area, we wanted to buy a bottle of Prosecco. The bar tender wanted us to have the most expensive bottle which we politely declined 3 times despite telling him that it was just because we didn’t want rośe Prosecco. After 10 minutes the young man came back with a bottle of what we asked for and handed it to us with no ice bucket and not opened. For the standard of the hotel we would have loved for the beverage to have been served correctly and not like we’d bought it from the supermarket. We had afternoon tea as part of our stay which was absolutely beautiful and great value for money. The breakfast buffet in the morning was 10/10 we were very happy. We used the spa facilities which was the purpose of our stay. We were disappointed to discover that the jacuzzi wasn’t working and was out of service for a week. There was also 2 kids swimming lessons as well which wasn’t really giving us spa vibes. The relaxation beds by the pool were extremely uncomfortable just very cheap and the type to leave marks on your skin after using them. The changing rooms were constantly wet everywhere they were very untidy with a smell of urine throughout the day. My friend had a neck, shoulder and scalp massage which she said was amazing and was only £45 for 25 minutes. Our room was lovely and cosy and the bathroom was massive. The bedroom could have done with some improvements for example the carpet and the walls had chipped and cracks everywhere , however we had an amazing night sleep in a comfortable bed and noise free so room was absolutely fine for us. Despite the little things stated we had a lovely time and the hotel in general is beautiful and I would recommend a stay. It is great value for money and we would stay here again. Thank you

Just returned from a two night stay here for our Wedding and I can’t speak highly enough of the venue, location and staff. All to exceptional standards, making our day that much greater. I can’t recommend it any more highly for anyone staying near to Chester, and also it is Dog Friendly! For anyone wanting to have their Wedding here make sure to have the amazing Martin running your day - an absolutely credit to the Hotel along with the staff on hand to cater for your every need, going above and beyond. We stay at the hotel regularly but it has now just become even more special to us - Book Now!

My son and daughter in law had there wedding there it was fantastic from the time it was booked till the day after the wedding nothing was to much trouble .the wedding planner helped them all the way through, then they had a fantastic wedding coordinator Martin from the Thursday my daughter inlaw arrived until we all left on the Saturday, everything went brilliant and the food was amazing we had a Bbq for the evening that just kept going for hrs and the rooms were lovely clean and spacious. Then following day we had full use of all facilities. All in all fabulous day ,fantastic facilities and absolutely brilliant staff and big thankyou to Martin the fantastic and caring coordinator. Best day ever .

Oh dear! This is a hotel that surely thinks it is better than it actually is. This was to be a nice way to finish our holiday as it was to be the last stop on our return home. We even upgraded to this room (9) but I suspect they must have seen us coming! We arrived just after 4pm and were warmly welcomed and given an introduction to the hotel and its facilities. We were told that nothing would be too much trouble. The room was large with equally large bathroom and so we were pleased. We were surprised however that there was only one bedside light. At 6pm we put the TV on to watch the news and none of the main channels were available! Reported it to reception when we went down to the dining room just before 7. We were told to try retuning it which we did later but with no success. Reported it again in the morning and were told that maintenance were on it! When we returned it still didn’t work! After making a fuss we had a manager trying to sort it in our room. He has also cleared up the cigarette butts from the balcony. I’ll also add that we reported the plug in the bathroom sink as being faulty and nothing has been done about that. Finally, for only the second time in our travels around the world, the bed wasn’t made as part of the room service. Not having a TV was a nuisance but the slow response was what really irked. Manager disappeared 2 hours ago so think we are without TV again tonight! It’s now well over 24 hours since we first reported it so will give up now! Needless to say we won’t be returning here should we come back to Chester.
