Want to start this by saying we would have loved to bring the following issues up to the staff and get these resolved but they were never there and we struggled greatly to ever find anyone. There was no bins or towels in the room. When we first entered there was no toilet roll and we had to ask for this. This was never replenished during our stay and we could not find anyone to ask to replace this for us. The shower spurted out everywhere making the floors even outside the bathroom slippery. There was no was no vibes or atmosphere, it was always pitch black and quite eerie to say the least. Signs in the lobby and on hostel world claimed the pool was open 10am-12pm but 2/3 times we went to use it it either wasn’t open or the staff were sat around it drinking and said we couldn’t use it. The pool also wasn’t on the premises which we were not aware of when booking. There was blood stains on the sheets and in the bathroom but these looked quite old so we were able to look past that. We were not given a key to our room for a while and when we received a key it had a different room number on it and were told to just ‘see if it works’. The roof rattled all night as it is not properly secured and the staffs dogs barked all night also. There was absolutely no security although on Hostel world they claim 24 hour security. Anyone can just walk in off the street and the staff wouldn’t have a clue. The staff didn’t even know we’d booked and asked us how much we had to pay THEM. We could have said 100THB and they would’ve accepted! Feel awful writing this as the receptionist was lovely, she just didn’t really seem to have a clue. I never leave bad reviews but thought this needed to be said as don’t want any other backpackers being mislead. I hope these issues can be resolved. Thank you for our stay!

If you enjoy getting stoned all day and don’t care about sleeping in an uncomfortably hot and messy room, this place could be for you. The owner’s priorities are clearly to make as much money as possible from unsuspecting backpackers - there’s several ‘creative workshops’ a week, yet you have to pay extra for these. I have friends who (on two separate occasions) were simply relaxing in the common area, yet they were asked to move because they weren’t pArt oF tHe wOrkShop… The view is beautiful, but it doesn’t detract from the uncomfortable vibe given off by most of the long-term residents intent on ‘finding their inner spirit’ or whatever experience they think this place will provide them with. It’s a shame; perhaps this was once the go-to place in Pai, but now it’s just a haven of pretentiousness disguised as a retreat for gullible lost souls. Pai has an abundance of much better accommodation options available - my advice would be to ignore the deluge of ‘positive reviews’ this place has given itself, and look elsewhere.
