The White Horse Inn

Lovely Sunday lunch today. Food & wine selection excellent as usual. We were very sad to hear that Billy & Emma are no longer managing though. Somehow doesn’t seem the same without Billy as front of house. Always welcoming. Shame - will be missed.

From the minute we arrived we were well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. The room we stayed in ‘Mill Reef’, named after a famous racehorse was beautiful and extremely clean and comfortable. The shower was excellent and the bed to die for, very comfortable with beautiful bed linen and feather pillows. In the room was a selection of teas, coffees, hot chocolate, still and fizzy water and biscuits. Also provided a good size fridge with fresh milk for hot drinks and decent sized glasses. We were attending a wedding and other guests in our party were due to arrive on the morning of the wedding. The staff kept us informed on progress with their rooms being ready and by the time they arrived at 12:00, both their rooms were ready to check in to which was greatly appreciated. The breakfast menu was fabulous with a wide choice of dishes to suit everyone. All of the food was cooked fresh to order, was delicious and we were served quickly by the very friendly staff who were happy to give us directions to the wedding venue so we didn’t have to use the single track road. We had a wonderful two night stay and would love to return for another stay soon. Thank you.

An excellent place to stay and, in our case, to return to. Rooms have modern fittings all of which work as designed. Decent shelf to put down soap or sponge bag. Bed and mattress very comfortable and the pillows very soft. The breakfast was very good as was our evening meal the previous night. We couldn't fairly find fault with anything. The price is justified by the high quality.

Beautiful place to spend the night and have dinner to celebrate a birthday. Room was lovely, food was really fantastic and the service was amazing, despite the pub being packed with a village event. Thank you to the manager who looked after us with so much care and attention. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Having read the reviews, we came with high expectations and were not disappointed. This was the most perfect peaceful setting in which to prepare for and recover from a family wedding in nearby Bury. All our rooms were spacious and comfortable with many luxurious touches; the showers were particularly impressive. Of course, what makes or breaks a hotel’s reputation is its staff; Emma, you and your team were friendly, welcoming and supremely helpful - thank you. We hope to treat ourselves to a return visit one day as there can be no better place to stay!

The White Horse Inn is about 5 miles off the SDW but we wanted to treat ourselves after a day in the saddle . The room we stayed in had a huge bath ( perfect for sore muscles) and the food at both dinner and breakfast was delicious . The owner and staff were very attentive and encouraged us to stored our electric bikes up on a terrace so they felt secure .
