Hampton Inn & Suites Childress

This was one of 3 places we stayed on our vacation, on the way, at our destination and on our way back. This was a decent place to stay. We didn’t have ice buckets, our reservation included breakfast, however I believe the oven was down and only offered cold breakfast.

We usually have good experiences with the Hampton Inn and have stayed here before, this stay was disappointing. The sheets were stained, the shower was in need of maintenance, the sink was clogged, the hot tub was out of order and there were clothes still hanging in the closet from a previous guest. This location is in serious need of quality cleaning and repairs.

If you do not want to be greeted upon arrival, want BLACK BANANAS as your "breakfast fruit", FILTHY ENVIRONMENT, This is the place to stay! I will be contacting the health department to take action. Don't know who is responsible fir thus place but it is a pigs sty! Nasty, rooms unkempt, just is NOT your typical Hampton Inn! Disgusting!

Older property and it shows. Dirty and damaged carpet,low toilet seats, sheets that don’t fit the mattress, have to get into shower to turn on the shower, staff needs training on how to meet arriving guests, stove not working so no hot breakfast.

Hotel room- cracked chipping tiles in bathroom. Tiles moved when walking on them. Vanity all scraped up. Room was nice years ago- now very run down. Wi-Fi and cable service not working well on this visit…. Breakfast- dirty serving area. Employee just swiping cereal etc off counter to floor with her hands. Coffee area just looked unclean- COFFEE WAS COLD.

We stayed at this hotel 7 years ago and I gave it 3 stars. We were at this same hotel Aug 10, 2024 and if I could give it less than 1 star, I would. It's hard to believe that Hilton would have this type of hotel in their portfolio. I have contacted their corporate office as well as my sister. We both reserved and paid for the rooms though the HH app. I also checked in though the app. My daughter was in room 324, side by side of our room 322. We arrived around 7 pm. Checked in at the front desk, we were given our rooms keys. A lady from the front desk attempted to enter my daughters room stating that it was unoccupied!!! Thankfully, my husband was just coming out of our room to witness this event. The room was dirty, lack of training for the staff at the front desk, the breakfast was lacking fresh food, and to top it off, we didn't want to eat by the look of the food and old fruit. My husband grabbed a cup of coffee and it was luke warm. It was probably left over from the day before. The floors were sticky around the trash cans and in the ice machine area on the third floor. I don't know about the other floors. The sheets were too small for the bed. Both corners pulled up during the night along with the mattress pad. The comforter is heavy with no duvet on it. So, you know it hasn't been washed by the look of the edges up at the pillows. I asked my sister and her friends that stayed across the hall in room 323 and 325. They had the same issues in their shower and sheets did the same on their beds. My daughter had toothpaste from the previous guest still in the sink and it was dried. Every area of the this hotels needs to be reviewed and retrained. I wished I would have looked at Google and Yelp reviews before spending my hard earned money here. I took these photos with my phone camera. I did not enhance them in any way. What you see is what I saw in the bathroom. Thank goodness there was a Starbucks a couple of blocks to the east. We stopped there to eat, grab coffee and hot tea.

This Hampton was a disappointment!! Public areas are not clean and in need of upgrades. Bed linens were soiled and room was not up to Hampton Inn and Hilton standards! Corporate Hilton needs to inspect this property and demand increased overall quality!!

The bedroom was comfortable and quiet. I was totally disappointed in the breakfast however. The omelet, if that is what it was, was rubbery, the potatoes were soft and rubbery. Neither tasted good. The Cranberry juice was colored water, the oatmeal was tasteless and watery. I was able to eat a waffle. The coffee was good. It was the worst Hampton Inn breakfast I've ever had, and I've had many. It was a Monday morning, but no excuses for this.

This Hampton Inn rates as on of the most filthy hotels I have ever stayed in and believe me, I’ve stayed in some dumps in my 69 years. Everything in the room was covered in dust and dog hair, see pictures below. When we checked in we were told that the oven was broken and therefore there was no hot breakfast as advertised. The swimming pool was also closed due to some problems. When we checked out my wife ask that the manager and regional manager contact her so she could talk to them about the abysmal conditions. Two weeks later we are still waiting for that call.
