Muchenje Safari Lodge

Me and my partner have just spent 3days at the lodge. It was one of the most beautiful places we’ve stayed at. The first thing the staff greet you with on arrival is welcome home. On the very first afternoon we went on our first drive and spotted many animals, the guides are really good and knowledgeable. I would recommend this as a location to stay.

Muchenje was exceptional! Whole staff makes you feel like family and enjoyed the community meals. Philli(sp?) was my guide and he was awesome! Great game drives experience in the evenings around the Chobe River and Chobe Natl Park in the mornings. Rambo and Tips were also really good to visit with! Entire staff was wonderful! Definitely worth coming here for at least a couple nights while in the Botswans, Zambia, Zimbabwe borders area. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Muchenje Lodge is a perfect jewel on the Chobe River. The staff were fantastic! Took many safari drives seeing 🐘 elephants, lions, cheetah,giraffe, baboons, hippo, crocs, ostrich and more! Food served was delicious and dining atmosphere warm and friendly! Special thanks to manager, Maria. Our guide was Tips and knew the area intimately and so helpful! Muller was the bartender and always had refreshments ready. Can't think of one negative!

Muchenje Safari Lodge is set on the edge of the Chobe River near the border of Botswana and Namibia. An overwhelming beautiful setting. Our "tent" was absolutely divine, so tastefully decorated and we had a fabulous view. We quickly settled in and went for our first safari in the Chobe National Park. Many giraffes, elephants, Impala, Kudu and 2 jackals. The morning safaris start at 6am. We were successful in seeing hippos, baby elephants, many lions and baboons all before breakfast. This was a delightful place to stay. Managers Maria and Frank are friendly and available for your every need. The chefs and kitchen people produced delicious African style food. Highly recommend staying here.

Cool safari lodge in Chobe with easy and quick access to the national park for an exciting and unbelievable safari experience. The property is decent with the main lodge accommodating everyone's meals and drinks in a comfortable environment. Family-style seating area where all guests sit together for their meals vs sitting in small tables of 2 and 4. The rooms/villas are decent with mosquito nets, aircon and plenty of room to unpack if you feel the need to properly settle in. The bathroom is part of the villa and is located behind the bedroom but is not a completely separate room so privacy is a little reduced. Rooms are supplied with walkie-talkies so you can always contact the main lodge if you need anything specific or an emergency. The pool adds a little extra holiday feel where you can swim and over-look the savanna down below. Be prepared for the water to be a little on the cold side but this is quite welcome in the heat of the day. The twice (sometimes) three-times a day safari drives are fantastic. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and make the whole experience worthwhile. You should never expect to see wildlife during a safari, however, we went on 6 game drives and saw pretty much everything available from Giraffes, Elephants, Lions, Water Buffalo, Monkeys, Impalas, Zebras and many many many more.

Approximately an hours drive from Kasane airport lies Muchenje Lodge providing a tantalising opportunity to glimpse some of the wildlife hidden with the Chobe National Park as you drive to the lodge. We arrived at what has been a long drought and at first glance you would be mistaken for thinking you had landed in an arid and barren desert. First impressions are quickly replaced by moments of awe as you share the stark beauty of nature that included remarkable variety of wildlife, including the rare brown hyena, sable and roan antelope. Elephants however deserve a special mention, these incredible creatures dominate and we must have seen at least 300 in and around the river! G-Bee, our driver and guide did an excellent job of satisfying the needs of long term safari enthusiasts in very challenging conditions. Lodge chalets include fantastic bathroom facilities and large comfortable beds with every amenity you could need. We found the sitting area rather cramped but as we were rarely in the chalet this minor detail did not impact on our enjoyment. Dining is communal which is somewhat constraining in terms of timing of meals. Our personal preference is to have a choice to dine alone or with others, particularly after long hot days, this being our only significant gripe. The staff are wonderfully warm, friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to accommodate individual needs. Our sincere thanks to Evelyn and her team for including us in the Independence Day celebrations on 30Sep2024, it was the perfect end to our brief stay.
