Holiday Inn Express & Suites Christiansburg

We visited due to the lack of water, power, cell service and internet in Asheville but only for two nights. The room smelled and was definitely musty. The carpet felt damp. Upgrades needed for rooms. The lobby and breakfast room were very nice. Too bad it did not carrying into the rooms. Would not stay there again unless they redo the rooms.

For those that want the cliff notes. Terrible experience. I checked in after a long day on the road. I usually stick to Marriott and Hilton properties and this stay reinforced why. Upon entering the lobby it was fresh and updated. I figured it shouldn’t be an issue meeting minimum expectations. WRONG. I received my key and proceeded to my room where I was met with a key swipe lock. I thought to myself, I haven’t seen one of these in 10-20 years. I entered to find the room hot. After being unable to find a thermostat, I saw manual controls on the AC. Another throw back to hotels of yesterday. The carpet in the middle of the room looked a little chewed up, which I found odd for a hotel that doesn’t allow pets. I checked the sheets and found light staining throughout and some debris on the carpet that hadn’t been vacuumed from prior guests. At this point I would have requested another room, but it was clear these were the standards set by management so this room was not an anomaly. It was late and I was staying on points I or I would have went elsewhere if this was an extended stay. On the bright side the bathroom looked clean at first sight, except my choose sticking to the floor when walking in. I proceeded to unpack what I needed to unpack. No need to worry whether to bring a USB-C charger or the older USB-A, everything in this room predates smart phones. There is electricity and I had a backup charging block so that was a plus. On to a shower in a bathroom that looked like it was from 1985. I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel where the tub and toilet were beige to show cleanliness. I found. Family of earwigs coming from under the sink and quickly played exterminator. I then took a shower where the tub filled up with 6in of water with a very slow drain, despite me opening it all the way. (At this point this review was getting a two star review as I have seen worse and the front desk staff was very friendly.) Then I went to grab a towel, yellow stains, then another, even more yellow stains, yet another, looked relatively clean at last. I then barely slept due to the environment and inadequately controlled room temperate which drops this review down to 1 star. I can’t understand why so many others have given 4-5 star reviews. I spend on average a month or more per year in a hotel and it’s not too difficult to meet minimum expectations. See all the colorful photos attached.

Stayed here one night as my child was graduating from a nearby university. The location is right off I-81 and about 15 minutes drive from Virginia Tech and Radford universities. Although considered a value hotel, the room and facilities were very clean. The person at the front desk was very cordial during check-in and checkout. And was fortunate to get early check-in around noon. The king suite was nice sized and had a sleeper sofa. In the bathroom, the shower was hot and had good pressure. The complimentary breakfast had a decent selection of hot and cold choices.

I was going to give it a 4. But a issue we had was resolved quickly and pleasantly. We had no hot water in our room and my wife called the front desk. The woman working at the time came rt up and resolved it rt off with a different room. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I'm a early riser so why my wife slept I was able to go down to the lobby and get fresh coffee. GREAT assortment for Breakfast. One of the better we've had while traveling. Again front desk person was very helpful and nice. Definitely would stay here again

The staff was so attentive and helpful. Especially Mark, he made our stay magical. The hotel was convenient to Blacksburg, shopping, food and restaurants. The checkin process was quick and efficient and the breakfast was good. But without a doubt the reason to stay here is Mark.

Stayed here 12/5/23. Property and room were very clean. Comfortable room, some of the most comfortable pillows I have ever had at a hotel. Good location to interstate. Good complimentary breakfast. Some of the best sausage gravy for a hotel breakfast. Friendly staff. I would recommend and return.

This place was clean. Friendly staff. Great water pressure in the shower. One night stay. We ate the breakfast there. It was very good. Cereals, pancakes. Yogurts, toaster items, cinnamon buns, fruit, and hot selections. Would return if in the area.

The hotel is clean and comfortable (if a bit dated). It appears they are getting ready for a renovation but quite honestly we found our room to be just fine. The staff is friendly and the morning breakfast had a nice variety (thanks for the egg whites and turkey sausage!). The hotel is just off the interstate. Their is very little around this location and you will have about a 10 minute drive to restaurants (other than Cracker Barrel which is right across the street). It would be great if they would provide a list of restaurants in the area as the women on duty at check-in really had no idea what to recommend. Overall you will not be disappointed.

After a long 12 hour drive from Florida my husband and I were very happy to have arrived at our hotel. The Holiday Inn Express in Christiansburgh VA is very well located off of 81 North . I had called prior to arriving to ask for directions and was warmly greeted by Jackson. He was very helpful in giving us directions .When we actually arrived at the hotel Jackson was as kind,helpful and welcoming as he was on the phone .A true professional ! Our room ( 114) with a King bed was very nicely appointed and clean .The bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows .The toilettries were of nice quality .We had a great night’s sleep . There are a few restaurants in the area to choose from Ie Ruby Tues,Cracker Barrel and a family owned Sports Bar within walking distance .We had a nice dinner and drink at the latter . The breakfast area is very nicely set up .We only wanted coffee and yogurt so we really can’t comment on what was actually available but it appeared that there was a very nice choice of breakfast items for guests to choose from . We would definitely stay at this hotel again .It has everything one needs for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Thank You again,Jackson !
