The hotel was very cute. It was built in the 1930s and much of that charm remains. It's been well maintained and most necessary updates are made - like larger beds and fresh linens, tv's, etc. Unfortunately, the key cards didn't work. One of the staff told me to knock on her door if that happened, which I did, but she did not answer. I then called the phone number, and another staff member answered, and tried to get the key card working again, but couldn't. She said that it would only be fixed once her daughter arrived, which would be after I checked out. She also essentially said I had to not use my key card anymore, which meant I couldn't leave the room until I wanted to check out. This was before 7am, which meant the morning I had planned to have in the area of reading, getting breakfast, and walking around, was scrapped. I stayed in the room until a man across the street started screaming loudly. He was screaming at passers by and spitting at cars, looking to start fights. I listened to this for 15-20minutes until I decided to just pack up and drive home around 9am. So, while the hotel was nice in a lot of ways, it had a major negative impact on my overall stay in this location and exploration of the area. For that reason, I would not stay there again.
