Ardencote

I recently stayed at the Ardencote Hotel, which is rated four stars, but my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The rooms had an old-fashioned charm, but the bathroom was too small. The toilet was uncomfortably close to the shower, making it quite difficult to get out. Breakfast was another mixed experience. The food was okay, but the tea was not fresh, which was disappointing. During the conference, I found the staff working there to be quite grumpy, which didn't help the overall atmosphere. On the bright side, the reception staff were great and very helpful. Fortunately, I got a corporate rate for my stay, as I wouldn't have wanted to pay the full price for the experience I had.

We met friends at this hotel for an overnight catch up. We booked a deal through Secret Escapes, which included tea and scones and 3 course Table d’hôte dinner. We arrived at midday and were pleased that our rooms were ready, as anticipated a 3.00 allocation. The room was clean and well placed at the end of a corridor, away from noise. There was a wedding that day and another social gathering, but we heard none of it. The Leisure facilities were not too bad, the steam room was fairly large and the sauna smaller, but we used both along with the pool. There were not enough loungers for the number of people, as the spa was obviously being well attended, being a weekend, but it didn’t impact on us too much. The scones were lovely and dinner was very good, although one of our friends thought the burger was a bit dry. Drinks were usual hotel prices. Breakfast was all self service buffet, but hot, and we enjoyed it. The staff in the dining room and bar were friendly and attentive. We would recommend a stay here but if you can do a midweek day, then it will probably be even better.

My wife and I desperately just needed a restful short break and we love Warwickshire. We chose ARDENCOTE CLAVERDON as it offered dinner, bed and breakfast meaning we did not have to drive out and find restaurants and could just 'chill'. The hotel staff were all friendly, helpful and in the main cheerful and as there were 'spa' facilities which we could use but didn't, our area of the hotel always seemed full of half-naked people wearing white dressing gowns.....not a problem! Parking was easy and being old and weary, help to our requested ground floor room, was offered with our luggage....much appreciated. We have visited many hotels at home and abroad and are unsure whether it's a privacy or security thing, but staff rarely have name badges and so credit for help and service is not possible without us constantly asking for identities. Anyway, our room was clean and adequate with an excellent view, though our three-day stay only saw one short visit from 'housekeeping' just before we left to make the bed and empty the now overflowing waste bins. Just one negative regarding the food, which unfortunately was not to our liking with very little choice for 'plain eaters'. It rather surprised us that there was no change in the menu over our three-day stay and so the decision as to what to eat became more restrictive as time went on. There were no problems with the asked-for changes and omissions to the food but we didn't feel 'satisfied' with our evening meal experience.....thank goodness for the wine!! The buffet breakfast was fine and comprehensive, though far too 'batched cooked' with food standing for too long, the mountain of bacon being way overcooked and fried eggs continuing to cook under the lights....little and often for a buffet works far better for freshness. My wife asked for poached eggs which were cooked fresh for her and much appreciated. All in all a very enjoyable break but our next visit may just skip the dining element.

My husband and I and our two married daughters have been coming to Ardencote Spa overnighter for the past 4 years. Our time here is always lovely. The staff the food the rooms the included treatments are all spot on. But this year we have noticed the changing rooms really could do with an update. They are a bit smelly and the toilets do not flush well. We appreciate that as these are in continual use it's a difficult problem to solve but ladies like clean and fresh. But we had a fab stay, thankyou.

Beautiful clean and efficient hotel, lovely setting. We were booked in twin room for George Michael tribute night. Four friens 2 twin rooms very clean and close to function room. The meal was delicious and staff and bar staff friendly. THE DJ WAS BRILLIANT, done requests, played to suit crowd, 80s and 90s dance, pop and anthems, had a great night. Breakfast and staff were superb. Would return again

We came for Christmas Day lunch as a family of approx. 14 guests. We were given free welcome drinks prosecco on arrival, which was a lovely touch! The food was amazing, I personally had the lamb roast and it was very tender, the gravy was super tasty and presentation was great. It was nice to be able to choose from the menu on the day instead of having to pre-order! There were a few options for each course. There weren't too many bookings and I think there was only one sitting session for the day so it was easy to have conversations around the dinner table, which was perfect. Thanks for a lovely Christmas lunch.
