Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, des Moines West, IA

Quick trip Checked in super late but staff was amazing. Stayed here a month prior when the hotel was full and it was nice then and even better when not fully booked. Was just a quick girls trip and needed somewhere close to the Horizon Event Center in Clive.

Easy check-in, nice staff. The room did have stains on the curtains and peeling paint in some spots. Otherwise, it is nice.

It was ok It was a nice hotel, but I’d say outdated for the price. I was upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi tub upon check-in, which would have been amazing if I wasn’t staying with my daughter. The tub was out in the open in the room, so unfortunately didn’t get used. The upgrade was still appreciated, nonetheless. While getting ready for bed, the smoke detector in our room went off. Not the main hotel fire alarms, but the white home detector in the middle of the room. I fanned it with a towel and it stopped, but it was a mystery as why it happened. We were not showering or running hot water and definitely not smoking anything, so I’m not sure if a neighboring room was smoking and that is what did it? That was alarming, but it didn’t continue so I was eventually able to relax. The shower had a shower head on each side, which was cool, but the water pressure was nonexistent. The bed was ok, but I did wake up stiff and sore. I also had just drove from Colorado, so I’m not entirely blaming the bed. Overall, it did the job. I don’t think I would stay again if it was priced as high as it was thought, but I would definitely stay for a lower price.
