Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens

We stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is set in lovely grounds just outside the town with ample parking. There is one slow electric car charger. We had 2 rooms, both a good size with good facilities. One was light and airy, the other dingy with little natural light as it looked into a very small inner space. The staff were very personable and attentive although there was sometimes a wait for someone to come to Reception or the Bar. Breakfast had a great choice of hot and cold items. We also ate dinner each evening and there was good choice and the food was delicious. Our stay at the start of April was also very good value. I'd recommend this hotel to others visiting the area.

Myself and friends have been lunching here for several years and the food has always been good, as has the service. The staff appear to be trained and always polite and helpful. My only criticisms are: the "monkfish scampi". They are two different fish, so why not use scampi and do away with imitating it with monkfish. Please, vary the menu; I can't think of any real change in it, at least over the past year. We would come more often, but we do like a variation in what we choose to eat.

Darren and I had the privilege of getting married in Fernhill House on Friday, the 1st of November 2024. From start to finish their staff were exceptional on the day. But from the minute I spoke with Laura and Ann I knew that Fernhill house was the place for me and my family to celebrate one of the most important days of our lives. Ann was absolutely incredible to work with she is an exceptional worker. Her attention to detail is phenomenal. The whole O Neill family are incredible to be honest. From Michael carting us up and down, Neil directing the wedding ceremony and dinner reception. Teresa mending my wedding dress with her amazing seamstress skills. I cannot recommend Fernhill house hotel enough. To anyone reading this and wondering about where they should choose a venue heath my advice and go take a visit down to Fernhill. You will not be disappointed. The breathtaking gardens to the exceptional country house the whole place will blow you away. They have such amazing employees, I was amazed of how wonderful and helpful each and every staff member was for me and my family for our occasion. So I would like to begin to thank the chefs as the food was 5* our meal was incredible. Thank you to all the waitresses on our day that worked tirelessly. Our food was served by staff that were very friendly and timely, bar staff were amazing so polite and helpful. The lady’s at front desk were so attentive. The reservation manager Valda also made sure everyone was happy and that everything was correct with guest bookings. The House keeping team are impeccable they keep the hotel beautifully clean and well stocked. They provided for any need a guest would have.
