Cloncurry Caravan Park Oasis

Don't be fooled by the name. This park certainly is not an oasis. The grassed sites they offer would not have been watered for a very long time and are dry and dusty. I know a lot of Outback QLD has been declared a drought area but many permanents had sprinklers on watering their green grass with the excess running down the road and all the toilets and taps in the amenities were leaking so water was obviously not an issue. There is nothing wrong with dated amenities as long as they are well maintained and cleaned properly. The amenities in this park are definitely not maintained and they are not cleaned, they are simply hosed out daily. They are one of the worst I have come across and I have traveled extensively for over 30 years. The photos were taken right after the amenities were 'cleaned'!

I really dont like when accommodation is called deluxe, when in fact its substandard. The smell of meat fat from cooking which impregnates the cabin was overpowering. It took 6 hours to knock it down. The ac wasnt on when we arrived. It was 38 degrees inside. That took 3 hours to drop below 30 degrees. The pot and frypan were disgusting. The pitiful amount of dishwashing liquid suppied with a micro sized chux were useless. No hot water at the kitchen sink. We should have kept going to Julia Creek which have excellent cabins. At lease the bed was ok. Never again

Camp kitchen was very clean and tidy. The only problem was that right on 8.30pm you were told to leave. I was there watching a rugby international with a mate and we were told to leave no exception. If you arrive late and want to cook dinner or want to watch something with the kids that ends after 8.30pm this is not the place to stay.

Facilities at the park were fine. Unpowered sites are right on the Flinders Highway…relentless traffic started up at 4:30 am, including garbage truck. The pub across the road had a band that didn’t stop until 11:00, no possible hope of sleeping anytime before that..This park would be great if it was not on the highway and further out of town. Very disappointing.

We initially booked for two nights and then extended our stay to four nights. We have stayed here a few times in the past but stopped coming here about four years ago when there were very unfriendly and unhelpful people running the place. We heard that there was new ownership and thought that we would try again because we liked the location etc. We are happy to say that the current owners/managers/staff are all very helpful and accommodating. It is an average sized caravan park and very well looked after with clean facilities

We are staying here tonight and I have time to write the review so here goes. A clean, pleasant park with shady trees Amenities are clean and the managers/owners are very helpful and cheery. It's in the main road but so far so good. No excessive noise. Our slide on camper required a change of site to accommodate our height and this was done good naturedly.
