Don’t rent from the surf shop! Bad business. I should read the reviews. They charge me double and lie about a damage cost . They make cash from lying about damage. Very unfriendly. Especially the manager, very rude and give you no option but pay.

Stay away! Very bad business practice and terrible customer service. I should’ve read the reviews before bringing my business here. Sure enough they tried to charge for damage on a rental surfboard that was not caused by our use. We used a board in waist deep water to play very mellow with our one year old. The staff pointed out normal wear and tear that they wanted us to pay $60 extra. I showed pictures of how we used the board but could not reason with them. I asked how this damage could occur and he said by the waves smashing the board into the sand. Pretty sure I’d be at the hospital with my 1 y/o if that happened. I then asked how they could even repair a softie board and they could not explain that haha. What a joke show. Lots of other places to rent boards for the same price or better. Hopefully I don’t have to fight for my $200 deposit either. Word on the street is that they haven’t been giving deposits back every when they promise too. I’ve rented boards all over the world and never experienced anything like this. Also never felt compelled to leave negative reviews for anything before this.

Total scam! Been having the best time in CR with family until our experience with Joshua at Pacific Surf Studios board rentals. This was our 2nd day renting boards near the beach. Picked up 2 for experienced surfers to use for 1 hour. Returned it and Joshua attempted to scam us for additional money by stating that we cracked the board which we did not - All of their boards are cracked. Additionally, he wanted to charge me for having a knot in the leash which I had contested because he gave me the lease with a knot already in it. When I challenged these things he threatened me with the $400 hold on my credit card and when I said I wasn't going to pay for it he said "how come you can't afford it." Also witnessed him giving other customers a hard time (i.e. going to charge someone for sand on their board? It's the beach?!). Go see Rob at the Lifeguard stand (1 access north) or Asdurilo (2 accesses north). Honest guys and not a bunch of crooks like this place. We travel and rent boards all of the world and this is the ONLY time we've ever dealt this a sham like this. What a joke. If the rental shop part of the hotel - I hope the hotel manager addresses this. Looks like this place has been an issue for years.

I rented a surfboard with these people at their stand next to the beach walk way. Surf rental is only $13 cash per day. Very good deal. They gave me a board, I am a beginner surfer. I surfed the second day and on the first wave in the shallow water, the leash detached from the surf board. They gave me a used surf board, this could happen to any person. I 1 hour early to the rental shop to return the board, I saw the staff, they were there at 8am despite it opening at 9am. They completely ignored me and said they dont open until 9am, fine. I returned the board later and they told me it was my fault the leash detached from the surf board. And a leash would cost me $40. They refused to show me where to buy a cheaper leash. And they continued to say it was my fault, despite giving me a faulty used board to which this could happen to anybody. This is the worst surfboard rental in Santa Teresa, would recommend this place to nobody.
