Premier Inn Cockermouth

You can’t rate a premier inn without including the associated restaurant chain, in this case brewers fayre. Awful, garlic mushrooms full of oil, the larger ones cold. Went simple for main, burger ‘n chips. Burger Luke warm at best, bun dripping in grease & oil. I will not be coming back to either the hotel or restaurant. Ever. Worst is I still have to suffer breakfast. Forgive the absence of capital letters in some of my text, they don’t deserve them.

Booked two nights in a Premier Plus room for my Birthday. Check in was straightforward and Liam was very polite and made us feel welcome. Our room was clean and everything was in working order. We decided to buy the Meal Deal for the second evening and breakfast the morning after - big mistake! We booked a table and arrived at 6.50pm (ten mins prior to table booking) - no issues, we were seated in the window as requested. So much of the menu, including drinks, had a surcharge on top of what had already been paid for the deal. Nowhere does it tell you what’s food/drinks are included and even the staff said it would be helpful. We waited 55 minutes for one starter - I went to the bar and explained we had waited far too long (we had been told the wait would be 20 minutes). As I was at the bar, the starter came out - it was supposed to be calamari - it was over cooked and looked extremely unappetising - nothing g like the picture on the menu. We refused the starter and asked for a refund of the meal deal. The staff were apologetic and one of them took us through to the hotel reception to get our refund. There were other people complaining about the wait and food quality and the new manager (who hadn’t taken up position yet) was sat at the bar observing the chaos! Hopefully he will be able to turn things around. The man on reception said they never try and upsell with the meal deal as they know how poor it is- wish we’d known that before! So for all the experience of the restaurant was poor, it was rectified with a refund and goodwill - this didn’t spoil our stay, but wouldn’t recommend it.

LOVE Premier Inn. Looks great from the outside and lovely views from the restaurant. Toni on reception was a lovely friendly face and checked us in. Everywhere was clean and bright including the corridors. The room, bed and bathroom were lovely. Breakfast had a great selection, although I wish there had been decaf teabags or chocolate as a choice in the rooms and restaurant. The staff everywhere were friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

Stayed 1 night in Jan 25 Good - easy check in, warm room, clean room, good size tv, clean bathroom, linked restaurant adjacent to hotel easy to get to, free parking but enter reg into screen Bad - breakfast finishes at 10:30am prompt, hotel is located near A road about a 20 minute walk into cockermouth

We arrived late on a Friday evening and left first thing Saturday morning so didn't spend long in the room but it was adequate for our needs. Our evening meal in the restaurant was quite disappointing. We both had the breaded mushrooms which were not amazing and quite dry. But the breakfast was good. Always like a buffet breakfast. Would stay again if in the area and it was a quick visit.

Stayed at this hotel a lot during 2024 for business. Generally the hotel has friendly staff, is clean, modern and well located for the lakes. However twice in the last couple of months the fire alarm has gone off during the night and I have spent an hour at the muster point in the car park while the fault was investigated. Also on two separate occasions during my recent stays there has been no chef in Brewers fayre and I have been unable to get an evening meal. Management need t address these issues on urgent basis.............
