Hotel Palacio de SAL

酒店的公共區域還是很有特色的。但是酒店比較陳舊了，客房床上用品比較差，基本上是一個三星的水平，衞生間就更差了，可能就相當於是兩星的水平。我們開玩笑説5星就是這兩星加三星等於5星。所以這個價格是非常不配房間的。而且由於酒店設計的原因，大部分房間是沒有通風的窗户的。酒店離鹽湖很近，但是鎮上離酒店也不太遠，總之這點距離不值這個價格。

We liked this hotel but we didn’t love it. It is allegedly a 5 star hotel but I’m not quite sure why. Very welcoming, lovely staff, nice reception area etc etc. The bar is okay with an open fire and good drinks but lacking atmosphere and the restaurant is totally disappointing with a mediocre buffet both at lunch and dinner. We chose to eat snacks in the bar instead! The ‘deluxe’ rooms have a good view of the Salar de Uyuni and are comfortable BUT very in need of refurbishment. Warped laminate floors with sharp edges and bad old bathrooms. Ours had a loo that barely flushed and a shower with a broken door. Don’t get me wrong … it’s a comfortable hotel but for me not worth its rating or the price. We checked out Luna Salada and it was far superior (with much better bathrooms) and a proper restaurant.

It is obviously from reading endless reviews for years that the owners are perfectly happy with their staff being rude and utterly unprofessional. They have a captive market- why pay to train the staff? A military reception: name, passport, breakfast diner time and point to the lukewarm welcome drink. No info about the pool or spa anywhere etc. The hotel was lovely and warm which was a relief after those we stayed at en route from La Paz. Perhaps it was the sun beating it, because once it went down it got colder and colder. For some unfathomable reason they didn’t turn the heating on until people went back to the room to get jackets for the bar / dining area. And why the light had to be turned up like a school canteen / food court I don’t get. The dining / breakfast staff were shocking. They kept reaching over the food we were eating to take plates away. They literally circle the room like sharks on hunt for plates to snatch away. Whilst we were still eating… I saw a guys plate taken whilst eating a sandwich so he had nothing to put it down on. This was every meal. And when we ordered wine they came with a receipt to sign - again whilst still eating. The hotel itself was nice and I loved the suite. Extremely comfortable bed, comfortable and warm. But it should have had a real coffee maker and more than 1 dose of instant coffee per person. The minibar was under stocked and not replenished. The salt artwork in the corridors was great. The delight of the stay was the private dinner upstairs. It was perfect. The food was delicious and not rushed and the wine was excellent. It was made so by only good person working there was the Argentinian guy. He was professional and friendly and made the dinner wonderful.

Our stay at the hotel was soured as we left the hotel to go to the airport, (we were literally outside the hotel) when my wife was accused of stealing a hand towel, when in fact it was the maid who had failed to replace the towel the day before. As if we would even consider stealing a pretty low quality small towel! The hotel is unique in that it was the first salt hotel at the salt flats (they had originally built on actually on the flats, until that was deemed illegal). A large proportion of the walls and roof of the hotel are built with salt bricks. In our room the bedside tables and the bed base were also made of salt bricks. The rooms are quite basic, but they are sufficiently well equipped with what you need in a hotel room. There were enough guest usable sockets to enable charging of devices. The bed was comfortable. The heating (it gets very cold at the flats at night) was adequate but old. What was disappointing was how dilapidated the shower was. The shower screen was missing several screws and it was a challenge to get the shower to the right temperature. One of the highlights of the hotel is the swimming pool. This is very warm and long enough to swim a few strokes. It is particularly welcoming if you return from the flats after sunset, as which point the temperature drops very quickly. Dinner is a buffet. There are a number of stations where you can select your food from. There is a short order cook for the nights when there is steak on the menu. There is an adequate range of foods and drinks to select from. Likewise with breakfast there was a reasonable amount of food to choose from, however there was no espresso coffee available. Service at the hotel is a little patchy and probably further training is required. The hotel has a bar. Overall it is a quite unique experience staying here, there are two other salt hotels nearby. The hotel feels tired and need of some renovation to both the hotel and the way that the service is provided.

I have to say that my family and I have been received very well. The staff is quite good, even the receptionist came to me a day after I arrived just to give me back BOB 20, because my mom forgot them. The installations were cozzy, and the food is great! They manage how to find fresh ingredients in the middle of the town. Also, the spa center is exceded my expectations! It was pretty clean and the pool had the perfect temperature! If you and your family want to have a good time, I highly recommend this hotel!

The double rooms have beds that are more suitable for children, as they are too small to comfortably accommodate an average-sized adult. Additionally, the bed sheets didn’t fit the mattress properly, causing them to come loose during the night, and I ended up sleeping directly on the mattress, which is never cleaned. Despite being hotel guests and seeing plenty of empty tables, the person at the front of the restaurant was rude and told us it was fully booked. As a result, we had to settle for very average food at the bar. The bathroom was poorly appointed and did not meet the expectations for a hotel of this caliber. The rooms certainly fall short of a 5-star standard. The bedrooms lacked outdoor windows; instead, the windows faced into the hallway, which was very noisy due to poorly built flooring and loud ambient music that played throughout the day. The window was positioned directly above the bed, with a translucent curtain that provided minimal privacy. Overall, the experience was disappointing

Worst experience ever. The room was dirty and stinky. The heating was well below the acceptable living. The food was disgusting and most of the time cold. The staff was poor and was not able to speak English. I would suggest not to try this Hotel in any manner.

Visiting Uyuni with Teen boys. This hotel was amazing from the moment we stepped foot. Superior to other hotels we experienced during our travels in Bolivia. Recommend it and will definitely come back. If you are looking for a fun experience with good accommodations in this area. Stay here!

A truly beautiful hotel, fabulous team and stunning views of the salt flats. Sunsets are beautiful too. Also the prices in the bar for great cocktails and food are very good given this is a top hotel - $7 for a negroni for example. The spa is also very beautifully decorated and has hot sauna and steam. A very kind and helpful team across the front desk, restaurant and spa.
