I was deeply disappointed with our stay at the Moxy Columbia, SC in June 2025. Traveling with my wife and 17-year-old son, we found the accommodations frustratingly inadequate. Tiny Room Size & Layout - The room was extremely small, making it difficult for more than one person to move around at a time. The two beds were so close together they were nearly touching, leaving no space for an adult to fit between them. Amenities & Usability - Outlets & USB Ports: There were not enough charging options near the beds, and the tiny desk—if you can call it that—was positioned under the TV with no nearby outlets for a laptop. Check-in Experience: The front desk staff was indifferent, neither friendly nor rude. As a Bonvoy Platinum member, I was not offered a welcome gift or bottled water. Breakfast & Perks: When I asked about breakfast, I was told it was a single $10 voucher per room—for three people. That barely covers anything. Bottled Water Confusion: When I inquired further, the staff seemed unsure. Only after I was about to check Marriott's policies did they dismissively say, There’s the water. Take whatever you want." Additional Frustrations - Parking Fee: $30 per night is outrageously excessive. Lack of Local Knowledge: Neither the front desk nor the valet attendant could recommend a single dinner option, responding with, I don’t really know Final Thoughts - The Moxy brand feels like it was designed for travelers who have never stayed in a proper hotel**. Marriott should be ashamed to have it under their umbrella.
