The Railroad Inn

My group of eight motorcyclists recently stayed at the Railroad Inn while visiting Cooperstown during the height of the 2024 Fall foliage. The Inn is top notch. The rooms are large, clean, and quiet. I cannot say enough about the staff. From booking our large group to welcoming us to checking out, they were friendly, professional, courteous, and accommodating! A quiet, short walk to downtown Cooperstown, this Inn is wonderful. I highly recommend a stay here!

We spent two nights at the Railroad Inn while visiting charming Cooperstown. The rooms were clean, the beds and pillows comfy, and the staff welcoming and friendly. There was a generous breakfast/snack bar for guests. We were surprised that the room was not made up following our first night, but this did not impact our recommendation. The hotel was walking distance to all of the cooperstown highlights. We highly recommend the Railroad Inn.

Recently stayed at this lovely inn conveniently located a short walking distance from town and the Baseball Hall of Fame. The front desk was very friendly and there is a 24 hour snack/breakfast area. The beds were extremely comfortable and we had a suite which was very roomy. Rooms are reasonably priced and there is an abundance of towels, linens, etc. There is a very nice front porch to sit on during warmer weather and a fire pit for the colder weather. Will definitely be staying there again when next in the area.

The place is nicely renovated and appears modern and sleek. The bed was comfortable, and the room was reasonable in size. We paid for a "standard" room, and unfortunately, it had all the HVAC stuff immediately above it. At times it gave a true feel of being on the railroad. It was very loud. The breakfast had plenty of items but it was not welcoming in that it was not served or presented, You pretty much go into the cabinet. For $300 plus a night, a bit more was expected. Most annoying they charge you to use a credit card, in my instance over 3% of the bill. This was never mentioned nor is it on their site.

This was my third stay at the RR Inn and, once again, I was very pleased with my experience. Friendly and helpful staff, walking distance to the Hall of Fame, super comfy beds, nice room. Free breakfast! My room cost about $225/night and I booked it a couple of months in advance. Ambient sound here can be a slight issue if guests are noisy in the halls, but that can happen at any hotel. The place is relatively new, only about 12 years old I think. The RR inn is my go-to when visiting Cooperstown, which I do for business purposes.

Incredibly clean inn with nice bedding; sheets and towels that were soft and smelled like clean laundry (and not bleach). Nice grounds with horse shoe pits and sitting area. Good breakfast offerings - variety of cereals, bagels, muffins, yogurts, juice & coffee/tea. Walking distance to Hall of Fame, so we didn't have to find a place to park in town.

Perry, his family and the whole staff at The Railroad Inn made our stay comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. With an industrial theme and decor, they provide guests clean accommodations with a complimentary snack bar in a great location. If you are going to Cooperstown NY, this is the place to stay!!

The Railroad Inn was an amazing hotel. The rooms were up to date yet nostalgic. The room was spacious and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We were snowed in and the lady at the front desk was so kind in helping us get settled. The free breakfast was grab and go which really helped us because everything outside was closed. Checking out was easy. If you are going to Cooperstown, this is the only spot to stay at! 10/10

The Railroad Inn is a nice enough place. The rooms are spacious, and the beds are comfortable. But we had a bit of a unique experience. We went in January. It was very cold, and there weren't many people staying there. There was very little for the front desk to do. But one staffer in particular seemed preoccupied with her computer and not eager to help (the other person, in the mornings, was quite nice). Our room was cold, and the bathroom was absolutely freezing. The bathroom floor was ridiculous. There is a temperature control in the room that didn't seem to work very well. The Wifi didn't work either. Neither are a huge deal, but when I told the woman at the desk, she shrugged. The heater should kick in eventually, and the wifi goes out sometimes, was her response. When I pressed, she offered to call the cable company. So I slept in sweatpants, a sweatshirt and socks. My wife wore thermal underwear. Maybe we should have demanded a different room, but the thought of getting out from under the covers made us pause. It was freezing. I mentioned this in the morning to another staffer, who told me the manager had been in room the day before and the temperature seemed fine. Guess it was our fault. I wanted to send a note to the management complaining about our stay, but the website is down too. Maybe you'll have better luck. But you might bring slippers and long underwear just in case.
