The White House Inn

Two couples visiting Cooperstown for the first time, we were fortunate enough to reserve the Carriage House…two bedrooms, kitchenette, 2-1/2baths and shared living room. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfie! We had a lovely breakfast each morning at 8:30. There was nice variety over our three mornings…waffles, eggs, baked French toast always accompanied by fruit and breakfast meats. This quaint inn is convenient to Main Street, several restaurants, the BHOF, and ball fields.

What a charming Inn. Ed greated us warmly and showed us to our room. The room was cozy and quaint. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast that was served was excellent. Each morning the table was set with china, crystal and linen napkins. The staff was very accommodating. The Inn is located in a great area. Walking distance to shops, resturants and the baseball hall of fame.

Lovely place, super friendly staff, great breakfast! Would happily stay again and will suggest to family & friends. What more do I really need to say! 🤓 Okay, Trip Advisor...I'll pad this to 200 characters because you require it...am I done yet???

Ed and team made us feel very much at home, and they are enough of a a reason to stay. We stayed in the birch room, which we found comfortable, cosy and we enjoyed the separate library/ tv area. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We hope to one day return to beautiful Cooperstown and experience the White House inns hospitality again.

Wonderful, comfortable, small inn close to downtown Cooperstown. Delicious breakfast served each morning and included in the rate. We had the east and west suites located a short distance from the main inn. Each suite has a bedroom, bathroom, full kitchen and living room. We enjoyed the spacious accommodations and are already booked for next year.

Our first choice would never be a B and B. We understood this, as the name suggests, to be an Inn. It was a little" too cozy" initially. The Inn's "quaint," old fashioned furnishings grew on us. We must have missed the photos! I wouldn't suggest our room as the one to reserve, though. It had a sitting room/library with a TV before entering the bedroom but no place to sit and it couldn't be locked unless you were there. We would have put our luggage in that space but then anyone could enter that room while we were gone. That room opened directly into the dining room and people sitting in the chairs had to move when going for breakfast. We didn't spend much time here so it was OK. The food was yummy every day.

White House inn is a gem! Warm, cozy with comfort of guests a priority. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious! Staff are friendly and attentive. Sherri was especially helpful in providing us with restaurant recommendations and directions to Cooperstown attractions. The Inn is in walking distance to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Parks and Main Street.

You cannot beat the location of this inn. Walking distance to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the center of Cooperstown. The folks who work here obviously love what they do. They are very welcoming. Breakfasts are good. And the place is very clean. Our only gripe is that some of the rooms are not easy for older folks like us to get to. So if you have mobility issues, call the inn before you go to make sure you have one of the first floor rooms. The back stairs are very steep and very shallow, making getting upstairs to our room a bit of a chore. Our room also had a huge step that we had to negotiate in order to get into the bathroom. But the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the room is well equipped. We’re doing a trip south this summer and we are staying at several B&B’s. Now we know to call before we go to make sure we can get to our room without a struggle.

The best things about this Inn are the folks who run it ( Ed and Sandy) and its proximity to the main street of Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame- there are many shops and restaurants there. Ed and Sandy were warm, helpful and had good stories about the guests who have stayed here- including many family members of Hall of Fame inductees. Your stay includes a homemade breakfast made and served by local help and Amish ladies e.g. fruit, a bread, an egg entree, coffee, tea, juice. The portions are not large- and we did ask for a second helping for my husband-he got the last one. It is served at 830AM and you really need to be on time. There is a main house, and a carriage house with two rooms. We stayed in the latter. There is a lovely backyard with flowers and 4 ft spa pool that we never saw anyone in despite the very warm weather. Overall, the Inn is very kitschy and needs a refresh. It has a very tired feel, sofas and chairs are old and lumpy, carpets are well worn, bathrooms needs some upgrading. Wall air conditioners fought back the heat. I must admit- we were disappointed- for the price.
