Cootamundra Gardens Motel

OK motel, just OK. Room was small and not worth the tariff. Got a great pizza at the shop up the street. Motel has Indian restaurant but we didn't use it. The motel is older type. Stayed here a couple of years earlier and found the same misgivings.

Comfortable motel which was easy to find and in a quite location. The room had access to a swimming pool as well as access to your parked car out the back. There is also a restaurant on site for dinner and breakfast the next morning, Staff were friendly.

Booked a Deluxe Queen with Balcony. The balcony was a concrete slab outside the door, the building is single story. Not a garden to be seen and you knew when your neighbour had a shower because of the plumbing noise. The a/c was loud and the outside unit was damaged and I never saw the fan working. Very basic but clean. The remote for the a/c was filthy. ‘Deluxe’ is an over statement.

This place is in desperate need of an update and a proper clean. The owners need to do more than just change the sheets and towels. It borders on disgusting and is well below basic standards for a rural motel. I won't stay again. Even the towels were stained and smelt stale.

Having eaten at this Indian restaurant on numerous occasions and the quality continues to get better. This visit highlighted even more interesting menu items as “Street Bites”. The range of tandoori’s, curries etc, quality of food and friendly service was well received along with a small but very adequate bar and wine list. We returned a week later for takeaway and were pleased the quality remained. Price is moderate and acceptable.

The 2 main reasons I’m leaving a 2/5 rating are firstly the bed, we booked a queen bed room. The mattress was absolutely awful, the caved in, in the middle & was the absolute worst night sleep either of us have ever had in a hotel/motel. The second is the bathroom state. The general lack of cleanliness in appearance aside, there is zero shower hob to contain the water to the actual shower. The lack of hob again causes the shower curtains to surge inward & cling to you the entire shower, because of the automatic fan that starts when turning the light on in the bathroom. I understand the need for the automatic fan, but I highly doubt they are changing the curtains every booking so just revolting having the thing constantly touching you while in there, not to mention the entire bathroom is completely saturated that nothing can be left on the floor. Would not recommend & would never book again. Do yourself a favour and spend the extra $20 & stay at a better one in town.
