Circa 1936 Art Hotel

Circa 1936 certainly lives up to the description of truly luxury accommodation. The hosts Jen and John were most welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our suite was beautifully clean, spacious and well appointed. The breakfast was delicious and we appreciated the off street parking. Would definitely recommend. John and Julie. Queensland

Another great visit at Circa 1936. We last visited in 2019 and the new owners have kept place looking fresh and immaculate. We were very pleased to have brought friends with us and our ravings about the ambience of the hotel to be validated. Jen and John's attention to detail and our needs made the whole experience a joy. No request was too difficult and remembering our personal preferences with breakfast made our 2 night stay very special. I would highly recommend a visit to Circa 1936 and Corowa in general.

Outstanding hotel! Wonderful host who greet you with welcome drinks on arrival and are happy to help with anything you need. Beautifully appointed rooms ( we stayed 2 nights in the West Suite - superb!) Take up the delicious breakfast option - fresh and yummy! Also the nightcap of a sticky muscat left in your room in the evening. Perfect location close to Rutherglen wineries. Treat yourself!

Our second visit to Circa 1936, we stayed in the South Suite this visit. A warm welcome with the offer of beer, wine or cocktail. How could we refuse. Negroni was perfect. Jen and John are the perfect hosts. Even offering to drive us locally if needed. Cannot fault the rooms, so much love has gone into them. The bathrooms are huge and the bath was devine. Complimentary bath bomb and gorgeous products supplied. Huge king size bed with luxury linen. Stocked minibar also complimentary, including local wine. Coffee machine and plenty of pods. Breakfast was spot on, love the fruit toast and freshly squeezed orange juice. You will not find anything else up to this standard in Corowa. We will definitely be back again.

Travelling recently through Corowa, regional NSW, we stayed at the charming Circa 1936 Boutique Hotel. The very warm welcome by host Jeni, the beautifully presented suites, superior quality bed/bath linens and amenities, luxury bathrooms with high backed baths, rain showers, feature stained glass windows, and a delicious continental breakfast served in the captivating ground floor lounge area, all made for our two wonderful stays at Circa 1936 (we stayed South and West Suites). This truly impressive property is definitely one not to be missed when travelling the region. An ideal location too for those visiting nearby wineries. Many thanks Jeni for such an enjoyable and relaxing stay, we look forward to a future return.

Every so often you come across an unexpected gem in a small country town. Built within the restored Rural Bank building, halfway down the main street of the town, Circa 1936 is certainly one of these finds. The building itself is a classic art deco masterpiece, and the restoration has retained the features of the era with luxury finishes and unique artwork to give it a relaxed and refined feel. The rooms (and there are only 3 of them, soon to be 4) are spacious and quiet, with high ceilings and enormous bathrooms. Each has its own unique character, with the West Suite having a cozy verandah from where to watch the bustle of downtown Corowa. The king beds are supremely comfortable, and the well stocked mini-bar is included in the room price. It seems wrong to have left mentioning the service to last - because it is probably the highlight of the stay. From the champagne on arrival, through to the nightcap waiting in the room after dinner and a tasty light breakfast the following day (not to mention an offer to drive us across and pick us up from dinner in Rutherglen, 15 minutes away), the friendliness and local knowledge of the hosts was of the highest level. Rarely does one feel so welcome in a high end hotel. Circa 1936 is an exceptional hotel and well located to explore the region - not just the wineries of Rutherglen, but the Murray itself, and even an unexpected whiskey distillery and chocolate factory! We can't wait to return for a longer stay. Highly recommended!
