Atlantic Garden Beach Mate

Upon arrival the check in process was quick and the staff member was really friendly and informative. We never saw anyone at reception again. Upon entering the room there was a strong fusty smell. The room had just been “cleaned”. The skirting areas were full of dust. The fusty smell came from the bedroom and it took a while to figure out it was coming from the headboard. It was so strong we slept with our feet at the headboard but in all honesty, if we had the money, we would have checked in somewhere else, it was that bad. It was so unpleasant that it spoilt our experience. We attempted to raise the issue at reception but every time we went the door was locked and no sign of life. Sent an email that bounced back. The apartment was very run down with mouldy sealer and cracked shower base, and generally looking tired. The bathroom door kept sticking and when leaving the apartment the door wouldn’t always lock. I stayed in the Lanzarote Beach Mate in 2020 and I was so impressed with the cleanliness and decor that I was excited about staying at another Beach Mate resort. It was very disappointing, the standard was massively different. Aside from the uncleanliness, gross smell and looking old and tired all the little touches were missing, such as cushions on the settee and lamps in the living room. It was very basic and unwelcoming. Location was great and the pool area was nice but there were a few loose tiles that were sticking up; a definite tripping hazard and only a matter of time before there’s a broken ankle.

back recently from a christmas break with my daughter to atlantic gardens. rated by jet2 as 3 star. it is 1 at best. we got there on saturday afternoon & there was no reception team we needed to access a key via safety box and let ourselves in. so no option for a safe on arrival for money passports & cards. my daughter is 15 so we obviously do not share a bed & i made up the sofa bed for myself, or tried but they had only left enough blankets and sheets for the main bedroom all of which were disgusting with blood make up and general dirt & no pillow cases for the grubby pillows. it was chilly too, so we ended up sleeping in our coats with some of the less dirty bedding and our beach towels so barely any sleep of course! i went to reception sunday & the bar said there was no reception team at the weekend & to come back monday, this on a 5 night break and i have nobody on site to give me some clean/extra bedding, shocking. the whole room was filthy with spiders webs, marks & dust, no safe still either on sunday my only option was to spend ages texting and whatsapp'ing various jet2 staff to try to sort some were useful some useless but either way taking my holiday time up on the phone when i should be relaxing was not ideal. someone rang me late sunday afternoon to say they could sort & leave the bedding & towels in the room with a safe key, i had reported no tv remote too this followed later, but zero english language channels not even bbc world service. the room remained dirty with a spiders breeding ground with eggs on show in the kitchen window & i could write the word filthy on the wardrobe shelf in the thick dust, sadly after i had already placed my clothes in there. on returning to the room after a late lunch to make up the beds etc, i was amazed to find our front door was left open anyone could have walked in and at this point we still had no safe and there was a tablet a phone cash money and credit cards alongside passports just sat on a bedroom shelf how hard is it to lock a door behind you! we got on with the holiday as best we could but the room was rubbish, paying extra for a pool view room was pointless as such an overhanging balcony meant our downstairs room got zero sun all week. there were no coat hooks, no lock on the bathroom door, the fridge buzzed all night so sleeping a few feet away on the sofa bed was a nightmare, the front door lock was broken so you could not internally dead lock for security, the bedroom door so warped it could not be closed, 1 plug in kitchen for toaster kettle and microwave so this made breakfast more time consuming than it need be, put an extra socket in or at least an adapter. one female bar staff, the colombian looking lady was very rude and never smiled all week we were there, shouting oi and ringing a bell to collect your own food order etc, but she clears the tables so a bit odd she cannot served to you also, even when you tried a little spanish with her she screwed her face up and said what i dont

We stayed at these apartments 30 years ago and decided to give them a try again. It's an experience, I will not be repeating! On arrival an extremely panicked maid was till in the room as the lock on the sliding doors to the patio was broken. I went to use the bathroom and the toilet had no flush. Went into the lounge are and found a hug rip in the faric on the sofa. The guy at reception was not at all welcoming. We greeted him a smile and he barely made eye contact. The furniture around the pools weren't clean at all with stains on mattresses. The gardens are very well kept but sadly guest areas are not up to standard. I cannot fault the location. I know this complex is not a 5 star, but that should not be an excuse for doors that don't lock, toilets that don't flush and guest areas being dirty. It's so sad to see a once vibrant complex a shell of its former self.

Sad to say we stayed here in 2022 and had a really good time apartment was nice and general feel very good , but we stayed again beginning nov 2024, the apartments are now all private , it’s all gated so on arrival we couldn’t even get into the complex, lucky the manager passed by and buzzed us in and gave us our key , the atmosphere is literally dead now , no one talks to anyone when sitting around the pool . Reception is hit and miss if ever open we had no toiletries in apartment and when I asked when the cleaner was due in we was told we wouldn’t get one , we had two towels , no clean sheets all week so was very very poor , the location is great so we just went beach every day. It’s such a shame but now that most of the apartments are privately owned there is only a couple that are rented out and I feel that’s why there is no atmosphere and a few others staying there agreed with us and won’t return , we will unfortunately not be going back ..

We didn't book direct. Instead we opted to book a private apartment with air bnb. Such a contrast to the other reviews. Our apartment was impeccable! Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with everything you could want or need. So the complaints about infestations and no towells did not apply to us. We did love the complex. The poolside bar/snack bar did shut at 7pm but that wasn't a problem as the local shopping centre had many fantastic restaurants and it was barely 2 minutes walk. The pool bar is just that ..... for when your at the pool. There were lots of sundowners and it was quiet and relaxing. We spent many evenings just sitting on our terrace watching the hedgehogs foraging. It was bliss. The only downside was that the poolside floor was not fit for purpose. I slipped badly coming out if the pool and Huryt myself. I did see 2 other people slip also. The floor around the pool needs some anti slip tape or artificial grass added to stopvthis else someone will have a serious accident. It did not affect everyone. I have mobility problems and the other 2 people were 60+ ish. I was happy just not to go in the pool tho. It was a shame but the pros of the complex outweighed the cons. 4€ in a taxi to the main strip or a 15 minute walk to either the strip or the closest beach. 2 minutes to an extensive supermarket, shops, bars, chemist and bus terminus but still with peace and tranquility. The vibe on the complex was good and the Liverpudlian family didn't bother me. I enjoyed watching their 2 children play happily. The staff are friendly and the grounds and gardens are meticulously tended too. Lots of greenery in a stark landscape. We will book again.

third time visiting and love the complex. Let’s be realistic - you get what you pay for. The accommodation is basic and yes some improvements could be made but I’ve never had any issues with it. Pools are great, plenty of sun beds. A lot of apartments are privately owned so quiet (apart from the Liverpudlian family with several feral children and a mother screaming like a fish wife) but how and ever. Gardens are immaculate - short walk to town and close to bus to beach at Oliva and also 2 min walk to supermarket. Next holiday I think air con is required and also I don’t want to run into that family again but have loved all my holidays here.
