Hovima Atlantis

First time staying at Hovima Atlantis, just me and my 7 year old. Hotel itself is lovely, staff are very friendly and helpful, room is clean and spacious. The toaster didn’t work in the room but reception sorted that with new working one within an hour. The reason for 1 star review is purely the sunbed situation. As a solo mum I have never felt as intimidated in all my life. The sunbeds are stacked up all around the pool and locked with a padlock, they are opened at 10am, a lot crowd round the sunbeds (mainly men) and not British. I went to try get a sunbed from further down where I wanted to lay and a man slammed his hands on the stack shouting at me telling me no. He wasn’t English and therefore barely understood what I was saying apart from shouting no at me. After all that most of the sunbeds are reserved with towels and not used until 3pm onwards which I feel totally defeats the object of locking the sunbeds up to avoid people reserving. The poolside feels very clicky, whether they are owners of some of the apartments or not I felt very intimidated. My son was playing with other kids in the pool having fun and make noises and splashes as kids do, and at one point a lady staying there told the kids to shut up, (baring in mind they are choosing to holiday in the school holidays) and saw others at various points in the day complaining of the noises just by their hand gestures and pointing at the pool as they didn’t speak English so I couldn’t understand what they were actually saying. The pools are lovely with the middle one heated as well as a baby pool. It’s such a shame something like this lets the hotel down, I would certainly come back but would have to be with my husband (he couldn’t come this time due to no annual leave) as I’d feel much safer with him, but as a solo traveller with my son it really did but a dampener on our 5 night stay. Today is my last day and I already feel nervous waiting for what the sunbed situation will entail this morning!

The Hotel is very clean and staff are exellent, their downfall is Hovima let people from other Hovima hotels use the Pool area, it wouldnt be a problem at certain times of the year but Christmas the Pool is packed, and I mean far too crowded, there is no security who comes into the hotel at all not just to use the pool, whether you are staying in Hovima hotel and 'booked with Hovima' or renting private, no one is checked, People come to the pool from the beach if its busy and heaven knows where they are staying, in the evening people walk up to the hotel to get taxis, which means if you are staying a the hotel, you could have upto an hour wait, because it is always groups of holidaymakers plus children and prams. Hovima you need at least a room number and name before someone uses he facilities, surely this is simply safety procedure with a hotel Most Hotels have security on the door.

The hotel starf are very welcoming and friendly. The room is very clean and made up everyday what was a very nice suprice for us. We did however had a problem with the air-conditioning leaking at one point through our stay here what was fixes within 30 minutes of us telling reception. The walk to the beach is not more then 3 minutes. The pool earlier is very quiet but spacious. I am so glad that we changed our hotel to this one as this is by far the best hotel we stayed at. We will definitely be staying here again!!!

On arrival at the hotel at 10.30 in the morning met a check-in by a friendly receptionist who said our room was ready great start to the holiday stayed in room 657 with sea views which was another great tick in the box on arrival to our room first impressions the room was spotless staying in a studio the beds were very comfortable the shower had plenty of hot water and a great pressure also there is a bath the rooms is basic and in my opinion could do with a bit of a face lift kitchen was a little poor equipment wise but we ate out all the time so no major problems any problems we did have which was 1 light not working was fixed by an electrician within 20 minutes staff are friendly pool area and pools well kept pool side bar very nice and reasonably price location of hotel is what’s brought us to this area and it did not disappoint room just need a basic face lift and a little up date

I concur with the comments about outdated studios and rooms but the resort is well looked after, quiet, safe and welcoming. Thumbs up for the on site cleaning staff, maintenance staff, reception staff and pool restaurant staff. For light sleepers the pool level accommodation near and above the basement plant room should be avoided so bring ear plugs. Constant background sounds of engines, pumps and fans may annoy.

Yes, as I said in the title, I've been in worse,but I've also been in better. I short middle of the road experience. Start at the beginning. We get dropped off a good 10 min walk from the front of the hotel and had to walk along the main road I thought It was maybe because the coach was to big to get down the road as I learned later in my holiday that wasn't the case as I saw many coaches pass the hotelanyway not the hotels fault but just a wee tip if you pick here and you have mobility problems then don't is my advice. So on to the hotel. I had emailed ahead and asked for a poll view on an upper floor and was told that the hotel was full, so I could not get my request..fair enough. The room was OK, dated but clean . Well equipped kitchen microwave cooker(that was from the flintsones) fridge..etc,bathroom was OK again dated with bath and shower ..and shower curtain..served its purpose water was warm in fact too warm at times . Beds are comfortable but in a wee nook of the apartment, and it took us a dated to find any plug points near it, but that was our fault for not looking properly. The apartment had a seated area with a T.V. which had a few English channels which was fine. The balcony was a good size with not too shabby views but never got any sun but put that down the time of the year,and overlooked the main road and entrance. Location was the best part of the hotel. You are halfway between the main town and the beach, but on quite a steep hill. Now here is my biggest gripe..the noise!!. OMG, I don't know if it was just because the people in neighbouring rooms were really loud or the walls were thin or a combination of both, but christ on bike, you heard the lot...🤨. In conclusion, reasonable apartments for the money but need updated and if you have trouble walking there clear
