R2 Higos Beach

We had a wonderful 2 week stay at this hotel. The rooms were thoughtfully equipped, with everything needed to make a comfortable stay and self cater, if wished. Unlike the comment in a previous review, we found the bed extremely comfortable, it's all a matter of taste. Our top floor apartment was spacious, furnished with a table, chairs and one sunbed, but the highlight was the amazing view over the bay to the volcanic mountains beyond. The rooms below had larger balconies and two sunbeds but we preferred the better view from ours. The whole complex, including our apartment was cleaned to a high standard. With the beach a few steps away in one direction and the supermarket a similar distance in the other, the hotel is ideally placed. I would recommend hiring a car through the hotel as it was so well organised and simple. All members of staff were helpful and friendly.

Muchos gracias a todos :) Just returned from Higos Beach Hotel after a glorious week of chilled vibes and sunshine in calm relaxing Costa Calma. The hotel is perfection - lovely rooms, pool area, spotlessly clean, everything smooth from the lovely reception staff to the breakfast staff and the kind lifeguard. The staff here are the secret ingredient, they are wonderful - warm, accommodating and very kind. This is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star service. Breakfast too was fresh and delicious with fabulous coffee. I loved everything about Higos Beach, thanks a mil for a fabulous stay 🌞👙🍹

Absolutely stunning 10/10 We came here for very last minute bit of summer sun , and from the moment we arrived we couldn’t believe how modern, spotlessly clean , and friendly this place was, the location was absolutely perfect , right by the beach , our apartment /room was huge and we had everything we needed , they also provided beach towels , and water bottle for your room that you can fill up at filling station at pool area as often as you like , the rooms have everything you need , ( you can ask for toaster if you need one ) we asked for an iron and it was provided , the balcony was huge , we ate on our balcony a few tines as it also has table and chairs as well as sun loungers , the staff were really friendly , we went self catering so we didn’t try the food but it looked delicious from what we seen , and there’s cocktails and beers. Wine, soft drinks etc, there is a good selection of restaurants /bars that are close by , also shops to bit fresh bakery goods , milk bacon sausages snacks etc they have everything you need for self catering , we bought wine for the room also , we rented a car through the hotel and went to Corralejo for the day which had a lot more shops like Zara etc and lots more bars and restaurants and is busy so I’d recommend to do that ,the hotel is in a really quiet part in Costa calma , so it was lovely and relaxing , we watched the sunrise and sunset every day , the sun loungers are extremely comfortable and are made to fit two people , we were seriously impressed by this hotel and don’t have one fault as it was absolutely perfect , thanks for all the staff I made our stay so memorable, Pamela & Ewan xx

This is a Lovely newly refurbished Eco hotel. We were welcomed and given wristbands when we arrived. You need this to access your room, gates, lift & to pay for drinks and meals, works really well. Our room was in the front building, nicely furnished and very clean with a small balcony. Kitchen area had all you need for self catering, we asked for a toaster and one was brought to our room. A glass refillable drinking water bottle is left in your room to fill up at the fresh water machines. There was a cleaning pack and tea towel provided. Thick green Pool/ beach towels were also provided. We had plenty of hot water & there was liquid hand soap and shower/hair gel in the bathroom. The cleaning/maintenance team kept the whole place spotless and the pool area was well managed and cleaned every day. The pool sun beds, although nice, take up a lot of space when more conventional ones would create more spaces for when the hotel is at maximum occupancy, a combination of both types like there are in the Sky bar would be good. I was unable to get anywhere to sit after going for a swim on several occasions. There is a second “pool” more of a pond as it is not enough to swim in. This had sunbeds all around it but the whole area was closed off throughout our stay. There are terrace areas above reception and the gym where seating and/or sun beds could be placed giving alternative relaxing spaces. The Sky Bar on the roof was a great area to relax in with plenty of seating and sun beds but felt it closed too early and was only open five afternoons a week. Similar comments regarding the restaurant, open every day, we would have eaten there in the evening had it been open. We did not book breakfast but you can decide on the day and just turn up at the restaurant On my birthday I had a lovely message together with a bottle of wine and cake left in the room. I joined Fitness, Pilates and yoga with Anneka and Nelli on Tue, Thurs & Saturdays, lovely ladies and classes were very professional. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We would recommend the Higos Beach aparthotel.

Great accommodation, great location and spotlessly clean. Rooms are large and well appointed, if you want a toaster just ask reception. Can't fault the hotel or Costs Calma. There are loads of restaurants and cafe/bars although if you want to try Al Fresco you will need to book at least a week in advance.

Although jet2 were cheaper, we decided to do it ourselves and book a junior suite through their own website which isn't offered through the jet2 website as they were on ground level. We took a taxi which is approx £200 return. On arrival at the hotel we were greeted with a nice smiley receptionist, but said we hadn't made a booking! After a few minutes of panicking, she did find our booking and gave as a wristband to open the door and gave as instructions how to find our room.On walking to our room we were disappointed to find that we would be looking over a carpark.We tried to open the door with our wristbands but couldn't open it, we even asked the gardener if he could help, he tried but told as to go back to reception. Another receptionist checked our wristbands and said there was nothing wrong with them and came to our room to show as what to do. we had been pressing the wrong part of the keypad. Once we had been shown how to use them they work brilliantly. No more having to find your partner to enter your room. There were 2 sunbeds on the terrace and the cleverly laid garden hides the carpark. AS we booked through the hotel direct, we were promised cava and fruit but found a bottle of undrinkable sweet wine which was so bad it went down the sink. Even our neighbour who likes sweet wine described it as cordial and added water to hers. The rooms are very modern and comfortable , with both bedroom and kitchen area having air conditioning which was adequate.Please be aware that the S/catering facilities are very basic with just a 2 ring hob and kettle.Cutlery, bowls are provided but things like a can opener, drainer toaster etc are not provided. You are given a glass bottle for refillable water and water dispensers are dotted around the hotel. This is a fabulous idea, but I would suggest to leave as many bottles in the room as to the amount of people staying. We borrowed another one from the breakfast. Costa calma as it name suggests is not a raucous place, its is German orientated which was fine for us but if you like British pubs and tribute acts this is not the place for you. The first week we were there, the clientele were of mature years but the second week with it being school holidays brought in a mixture of ages from young couples to families with babies and older children. I am big, very big and find sunbeds a problem but here there is a choice of thick sunbeds, differing in width and height. The cabana sunbeds suited as best as they were a bit taller and easier to get on/off. The pool is haven of peace and tranquility with jazzy/ bluesy vocals played softly in the background. Instead of having a teenage boy playing at being a lifeguard and spending all his time on his phone, here is a man who is very vigilant and is always watching to see if anybody needs help with their umbrella or not obeying the rules.
