SBH Costa Calma Beach Resort Hotel

To start with, the entire hotel is falling apart and nothing is being restored at all. This hotel looks like it was pure luxury 20 years ago, but nothing has been done or changed since then. The rooms are not clean. When we moved a sofa on the 1st day, there was a big dead cockroach under it. Also, the walls, especially in the bathroom, are full of dead mosquitoes. The 2nd night our room en my parents room was robbed, they took a total of about €450 in cash. I reported this to reception, who called the police. The police didn't come, we had to go to the police ourselves. But the police office was closed half of the time, when it was open there was nobody around who talks a little bit of English. The hotel itself and the manager did not do anything against the robbery, did not help us and did not do anything in return for us. Apparently this was quite normal for them. hey only checked the doors with their card reader. They let me take a look at the data of the card reader, there I saw that somebody checked in into 1 of our rooms at 8.15 PM, ‘with our own card’. But we were downstairs between 7.00 PM and 09.00 PM, so that was impossible. After 8.15 PM, there was a gap between 8.15 PM and 09.00 AM in their data, which was impossible too. So surely somebody manipulated the security system, but they didn't do anything about that either, they only told us they don't understand how it was possible. So needless to say, we did not feel comfortable anymore in this strange hotel in a strange neighborhood. The outside of the hotel, pools and so on, are reasonably OK, apart from the sun beds that should have been replaced 10 years ago. The food is the same daily but not bad. Everyday you have to wait 5 minutes in a queue for a coffee, the coffee corner smells really really bad. Summary: don't come here. This place is not safe because the hotel is old and not maintained and they manipulate the security system. This is the worst hotel I have ever been.

Be Careful what you get!!! Booked this Hotel but got put in the Nalitus Hotel next door that they apparently own. It’s a dump have a concrete balcony overlooking a road the curtains are hanging down very tired. However Costa Calma Beach is very nice. If I knew I was going to be put in this hole I would never have booked it. Reception doesn’t see what the problem is!! Photos will follow our room is the one on the right I think. Avoid this place at all costs. Not looking forward to spending another 10 nights here and that’s for sure. Was supposed to be a relaxing holiday for my Sister and myself following a horrendous year. All I can say is this is like a nightmare from hell.

I love this place. Plenty of room to spread out around the pools and on the hotel's section of beach. Travelling solo, I feel very safe and totally invisible to other families and couples which doesn't make me feel uncomfortable being on my own and I keep returning simply for this reason. I thought the food was not as good as last year but was still plentiful and edible. Rooms and balconies are spacious and very clean, plenty of hot water and a mini fridge to keep your drinks cool. Only one negative, I thought the snack bar needed to be improved on bar service, clearing of tables and not loud music with staff shouting to be heard. I will return again next year!

We are still in this hotel. I am very happy that i didn't listen the bad reviews and we choose this hotel for our holidays. The food is very good, lots of choices for everyone. Rooms cleaned every day,great service, everyone helpful. Its 4 more days and i would love to stay longer. I hope i can come here again

I found all the staff very friendly and helpful; room was cleaned everyday; food was plentiful and varied, though tended to be luke warm sometimes. The "singles" table in the restaurant is a good idea, though perhaps "Solos" might be a better name for it and perhap it could be flagged up .... it took me 4 days to realise it was there..... met variety of people, different ages and nationalities and enjoyed some good, and often hilarious conversations! The animators worked hard at the variety of activities and entertainments. Could I request a new set of table tennis bats please!! The pools and beach area are lovely, always plenty of sunbeds. Nice to have some "quiet" areas indoors too. This is a good "all inclusive" hotel ..... there are not a lot of restaurants and shops close by. I did find Los Piratos bar , open evenings wirh music and Salsa dancing on Fridays! (took a taxi there ) It was a nice touch to receive a Christmas Stocking for each room on St Nicholas day, December 5th. I would stay here again.

On check-in, we were given a map and directed to our room by a lovely receptionist. It was a fair walk to the room, including having to walk along an outside pathway which connected 2 different buildings. On arrival to our room, we realised the name on the door, Nautilus Beach Hotel - not the hotel we booked! Also the room was covered in ants all over the floor and in the bath. The balcony had massive palm trees which took up the entirely of the balcony, there was no light on the balcony for night time, and always shaded during the day with no view due to the palm trees. We then returned back to the main hotel (the one we actually booked) to speak to reception. We were greeted by 2 different members of staff who we expressed said concerns to. We were informed it shouldn’t be a problem to switch rooms and to come back the next morning to speak to reception then due to the time of night. So, the next morning we went to speak to reception. We again stated our concerns. We were then informed there is a charge of 35€ per room to change room. So another 35€ per room to actually be put into the hotel we booked and paid for? We stated we had spoken to 2 people the night before and they informed us it wouldn’t be an issue to change rooms. The man on reception (not sure of name but has a man bun working 02/12) had an attitude and was quite rude to be honest. He informed us it’s not a different hotel, it’s all the same hotel (with a completely different name on the front of the building and the hotel room doors?). He stated there was nothing else he could do as that is their policy and he would need to speak to his manager, we were told to come back again after 11am. When we went back after 11am, we were advised he had spoken to his manager but there is still a charge to change room, even though the room was covered in ants? He then stated he would speak to his “chef” but that wouldn’t be until the following day, and to come back after 11am then. He stated he would get someone to bug spray the room but this never happened. This was now day 3 out of a 7 day holiday. Eventually we gave up trying as we kept being pawned off. After speaking to other people in the hotel, this happened to multiple people, with them being on day 4/5 of trying to get a room switch. There was an A4 piece of paper which was a list full of guests who were wanting a room change. (This says a lot!) I’m assuming the Nautilus Beach Hotel building has been bought over by Costa Calma Beach Resort or is their sister hotel I’m not sure -however it feels like an abandoned building. The rooms could do with being redecorated as they are very old fashioned. Also was very strange, but there was no plugs in the bathroom sink or bath tub, so is impossible to take a bath. There was a fridge in the room, and you can hire a safe for 38€ for 1 week which includes a 10€ deposit.
