Nestled in the pretty and typically Cornish village of Tywardreath, 3 miles from Fowey, Pebble Cottage is our well equipped and homely Cornish miners cottage dating from 1860. Located under a mile from the beach and just a 10 minutes drive from The Eden Project, it is also situated on a quiet no through lane, which is part of The Saints Way, an ancient pilgrims' footpath linking Fowey to Padstow. Step outside the front door and one direction leads you into open countryside with plenty of footpaths and lovely views, and the other to the village centre and then the beach and South West Coast Path less than a mile away. There is one private parking space right outside the cottage and a fully enclosed, spacious, flat sunny courtyard garden (no steps!) with plenty of seating and a BBQ. Inside, the cottage is centrally heated throughout to keep you snug and cosy during winter stays.Pebble Cottage is less than a mile from the wonderful, dog friendly and safe Par Sands Beach, which, with its gently sloping sands is perfect for families and watersports. From the beach you can also pick up the spectacular South West Coast Path with its dramatic cliff top views, wildlife and hidden coves. In one direction you can walk to quaint Charlestown Harbour (as featured in ‘Poldark’), and in the other direction to Polkerris with its watersports, beach, pub and restaurants and spectacular sunsets. If you fancy a longer walk you can carry on past Polkerris to Fowey and catch the bus back, but if you don’t fancy that Fowey is only a 5 minute drive away.Tywardreath, meaning ‘House on the Strand’ lies in the heart of Daphne du Maurier country and features in her book of the same name. It has a great friendly pub with a popular family and dog welcome restaurant, a village store, fish and chip shop, an award winning Butcher and a beautiful ancient church. Tywardreath is known as one of the friendliest villages in Cornwall, and with it's great location it is hard to beat for a Cornish holiday. Situated right in the heart of the village with all its amenities, Pebble Cottage is well placed for visiting all the popular tourist attractions on both the north and south coasts, with The Eden Project being only a 10 minute drive away and The Lost Gardens of Heligan a 25 minute drive away. The small town of Par is a 10 minute walk from Pebble Cottage and has a further range of shops and post office plus a railway station with a direct link to London Paddington, Newquay, Truro (connect here for St Ives), Plymouth and the steam train at Bodmin. If you are travelling by train, we are more than happy to collect you from the station.The beautiful harbour town of Fowey is just 3 miles away and has a great selection of shops and restaurants. From here you can take the ferry across the Estuary to Bodinnick and Polruan or take a boat trip across to Mevagissey. You may even be lucky enough to spot a dolphin on the way! You really are literally spoilt for choice when it comes to nice walks and things to do in this area at any time of the year.AccommodationPebble Cottage was completely renovated throughout in 2019 and so offers you a clean, fresh and quirky place to stay. Being built in the 1800’s there are many interesting features and beams, which add to its character, whilst modern appliances and central heating have been fitted for your comfort and convenience. There are two large, well furnished bedrooms upstairs both with king size beds, plus there is a further single bed in the back bedroom with room for a cot too. The large shower room is also upstairs and we provide all towels and bedding (please bring your own beach towels). Downstairs a good sized hallway leads into a cosy lounge with electric woodburner and also into a good-sized and well-equipped kitchen/diner. A spacious utility room housing the washing machine, children's toys and space for all your ‘stuff’ leads out into the fully enclosed, private, sunny courtyard garden.We have a good selection of books and local information to help you make the best of your time in Cornwall. If you are travelling with children we have a good range of toys plus baby and toddler equipment to save you cramming it all into the car, just specify what you would like before you arrive. There are no end of beautiful walks in this area suitable for all times of the year, and the main Cornish visitor towns and attractions are all close to hand too. Cornwall is a very dog friendly place, and for this reason we do welcome well-behaved dogs and owners and we have a selection of doggie items that you can borrow too. We are dog owners ourselves and know how enjoyable it is to bring your four legged friend along with you on holiday, especially to a place like Cornwall. To keep the cottage clean for all our guests, dogs are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture - 'Four paws on the Floor' please! We do need to know before you arrive if you are bringing your dog along , so make sure you add them to the booking form please.We are sure you will have a wonderful stay at Pebble Cottage, but if you would like to know anything else prior to booking, please don't hesitate to ask. We live in the village ourselves so can be on hand to help you with anything during your stay, otherwise we will respect your privacy and leave you to get on with enjoying yourselves!NB: Due to the age and character of the cottage, there are a few low beams and doorways and a sloping roof in the back bedroom that restricts head height along one wall - see photo for more detail. Buttercup Cottage is in a perfect position to explore Cornwall. Just 5 minutes from Par station with direct trains from Paddington reaching us in just over four hours! Alternatively there is parking for 2 cars.This lovely cottage sleeps 7 in 3 bedrooms with a double, twin and a bunk plus mezzanine bed.There is a large lounge with smart TV, 68Mb internet in the reading room and a lovely kitchen diner.The gorgeous bathroom has a jacuzzi bath.The garden and patio has the sun all day long!The spaceWe have designed this lovely cottage as our holiday home for our family. Our three girls aged 5, 5 and 8 have a room together with bunk beds for the twins and Francesca loves the mezzanine bed.Our teenage exchange students go in the twin room and we enjoy the master bedroom.This place is a cottage but is very much like the Tardis. The only time you will feel cramped is at dinner as it is a bit of a squeeze around the table.While our kids are watching TV we sit comfortably in the reading room away from the noise.I have personally worked to make the outside area as nice as the newly renovated inside with a railway sleeper seating area and nice fake grass.My fiancé has sourced all of the old furniture.
