The Bay Hotel

Spent the last two Fridays here enjoying the wonderful views, friendly atmosphere and delicious cocktails. They create a new 'special' cocktail every week and service is spot on thought out the bar and living room. Thank you so much for looking after us Courtney, Jack, Sarah and James!

Never fails to live up to all expectations. A lovely old hotel with the best staff anywhere. This was our fourth year of returning to celebrate our anniversary and we love it. Views over the bay from our room was outstanding as is the food served in the restaurant, you won’t go hungry after starting the day with the Bay breakfast. If you want a relaxing, quality break come and stay here. Until this time next year. Thank you to all at this hotel who make it very special.

Great location and weather. Amazing food, we had a starter and Sunday lunch. We felt it was let down slightly by the waiting staff. More training required. Did mention this to management and hopefully will improve. Wouldnt stop us returning.

We called in for Sunday lunch/dinner on 8th September and thoroughly enjoyed it. The quality and standard of the food was first class, plenty of it and it was absolutely delicious. Service was 1st class too, everyone working in the dining room got the balance of professionalism and rapport building spot on, friendly and attentive without being pushy. The Bay serves Sunday Roast until 8 P.M., possibly as a result of many walkers doing the S.W. Coastal Path staying here, we ate at 16:00 hrs. and everything on the menu was still available. A first class dining experience in every respect, we hope to be back soon..

Positives: It is a spectacular spot. Coverack is stunning and this place is right on the front. Reception staff, very friendly. Negatives: Rooms small. Breakfast, bar and meal services are very poor. Hour wait for breakfast, cocktails never arrived, so cancelled them. Very expensive. For the 3 night stay, we could have had 10 days abroad.

Lovely breakfast spot, really high quality food and good value as well. It includes tea/coffee, juice, granola with fruit and yoghurt, croissants and a main course as well. The homemade granola is delicious and the cooked breakfast is so nice, especially the mushroom. Friendly staff and lovely views, even when it’s misty. The 10% local discount for the Lizard peninsula residents is great as well. Nice to see local businesses supporting the community.

Really disappointed in this 'Hotel'. We are staying in Coverack for two weeks. We went for tea in their garden, the tables had not been cleared and seagulls were diving on us which was really frightening, the tea and cake was good but china cups would have been better than 'mugs'. Not to be put off we had seen cocktails advertised on a local Facebook page for Friday night so we thought we would pop and have a drink, we sat on the patio outside the front door. The service was really poor, we had to go and order at the bars no table service. We waited over an hour for our cocktails, they were ok but an hour is not ok and we left without ordering food or any further drinks. We saw a group leave, they said they were local, and they had waited too long so were not ordering more, such a shame as I think it seems to be a small local hotel that in their adverts is open to all. The staff did not have any name badges or uniform so we could not be sure who was working there or who could serve us. We have stayed at lots of hotels and this was really not very professional. Also there did not seem to be a duty manager or anyone in charge so there was no one to sort this. Potentially a really lovely place but not geared up for non residents. Such a shame as this could potentially be a really nice place.

An excellent hotel in every respect: from its location with well-kept patio and lawn leading down to a sandy beach; its friendly and helpful staff throughout, for whom nothing was too much trouble; its sea-view rooms simply and delightfully decorated; its restaurant with interesting and excellently prepared dishes, especially the Arnold Bennet omelette at breakfast. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a beautiful meal here tonight with visiting family. Nothing was too much trouble including accommodating our little ones dietary need. He came away having had such a lovely experience eating the same things as us with Confidence, so much so he wants to come back! The service by James was excellent. Relaxed, thoughtful, cheerful and again nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back!
