Hotel Riu Karamboa - All Inclusive - Adults Only

Hotel very clean, staff work so hard, always have a smile in their face, can not do enough for you, hotel is very large and spaced out, which we liked, food is amazing, and fridge filled up every day. Could always get a sun bed and towels provide. Please not book any trips with the TUI reps, we booked 2 and the cost was £350 for 2 people, look for the locals as this is much cheaper and will collect from hotel. Or look at other peoples comments and see if they can provide you with websites. Sports bar, couldn’t watch the football as would freeze and not come back on, so husband not to happy with this. Used spa, had toes nails painted. Would go back maybe for some winter sun.

Whilst my partner and I did have a good holiday, this hotel is definitely not 5 stars. We have previously stayed at the Riu Palace next door to Riu Karamboa the year before, and had an amazing time there. When we arrived at around 11:30am, we were told our room was not ready and we had to wait and would receive an email when it’s ready. We hadn’t experienced this before but didn’t think too much of it. A couple of hours had passed by and we noticed that people were getting told their rooms were ready and we still hadn’t received anything. Around 2:30pm I asked reception if there was any update(I just wanted an ETA really) and was immediately told our room was ready and given the keys. So I wonder how long we would’ve been waiting had I not asked. So by the time we had gotten to the room and got sorted we had missed half of our first day, which disappointed us as the whole reason for getting such an early flight (6am!) was to get a full first day. One of the things that pushed us to Karamboa was that they had “Italian” and an Asian restaurant that you could book. We were very disappointed when we got to the Italian. It was the same pasta and pizza that they serve at the regular buffet, actually I think there were more options at the buffet. The Asian restaurant however was very nice and had a lovely atmosphere. The buffet was what you’d expect at an all inclusive, but we feel it could’ve been better taken care of. There were often bugs and flies around the food inside, and tongues used for meat and fish products would be used for vegetable products too. The food needs to be labeled better, a lot of it was a guessing game on what we were putting on our plates, luckily we had no allergies, however my partner is vegetarian and there were many times she was eating something that had a veggie label and then contained meat. We were also surprised to learn that there was no iron in the room. You have to pay €5 to hire it for 24 hours plus a €35 deposit. Other than that the room was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable. The pool areas and the beach were lovely and we never had any trouble getting a sun lounger. It’s clear that other guests do not care that it is not just their holiday. There are clearly marked areas for smokers but often we had people on loungers next to us/behind us smoking. Neither of us smoke so it wasn’t pleasant. And the pool with the swim up bar would quickly become packed like sardines. But it is still well maintained and the grounds are beautiful. We had a nice time but we wouldn’t return.

Stayed at this lovely hotel end of May , what a brilliant time we had for the seven days we were there. Would have stayed for longer if we had known what a great time we had . We’ve stayed here eight years ago so we’re surprised to see the place had been revamped . Food great , staff at restaurants were friendly too.the Italian restaurant which was nice but atmosphere wasn’t the best . The Chinese was far better , hotel pools were great five to choose from two swim up and snack bars. Beach lovely and plenty of sun bed by the be and pools. Entertainment staff were brilliant and so were the shows . Couldn’t fault our stay at all. We can see a huge improvement in the hotel since last visiting eight years ago.All round great holiday and will definitely be back.

Great holiday from start to finish. Super friendly staff, rooms are kept clean to a high standard as are the outdoor toilet facilities by the pools. Plenty of food choice in restaurants, Asian and Italian a la cartes are great too. Plenty of sun beds to choose from so no having to get up early to reserve beds which was great. Not many cocktails to choose from but wine was good and they serve mimosas and Prosecco on a Sunday at breakfast which was nice. Great beach bar about a 20 minutes walk to left of hotel which does lovely cocktails. Only thing I didn’t like was the foul language from some of the guests in the entertainment pool when playing pool games. We didn’t go there after that as it spoilt it for us. All in all an excellent hotel and staff. Will definitely return at some point.

Lovely holiday, 2nd time here. Didn’t feel like the staff was as friendly this year as last year. Staff round pools and evening shows were all lovely but waiters and waitresses were not friendly which was a shame but maybe because it was so busy. Food was great, drinks could be better. Minibar never got refilled unless you asked.

We arrived at the hotel at 12.30 but our room was not ready, we had to wait until 3.15, after asking a few times how long will it be. We were not given our towel cards so had to return to reception for them as if you check out without handing them back you will get charged 10 euros per card. Apart from that everything else was great. Room size, food, drinks, service and entertainment was very good. Pools were also very good, although a few more sunbeds wouldn’t go amiss. All bar staff were very happy and friendly along with the hard working restaurant staff.

We stayed here 14th October - 25th for 11 nights. Check in was very smooth and quick, we arrived around 2:30pm and our room was ready. There is no air conditioning in the reception area which is quite unbearable with the heat, especially at night if you want to sit in the seating area. There are ceiling fans but they don’t really make much difference. We ate at the main restaurant for breakfast every morning, there is a wide variety to choose from and a vast seating area, however it is not up to 5 star standards - we found shell in the scrambled egg and my boyfriend found some sort of cling film in the bacon. The waiters come round and offer you coffee and milk but any other drinks are self service. For dinner there are 4 restaurants to eat at - the main restaurant, the pool restaurant (Las Dunas) and 2 snack bars (Pepe’s food). We didn’t eat at Pepe’s food at all because it is located next to the swim up bar which is always swarming with flies which put us off. The Las Dunas restaurant is not much better as the seating is all located outdoors so you’re constantly batting flies away. The food choice is okay, just the usual salad, pizza and pasta. The main restaurant has more choice but again some of the food has flies sat on it. We ate at all of the restaurants for tea - the main restaurant, Italian, Asian and Kulinarium. The Italian and the Asian are buffets, same as the main restaurant and the Kulinarium is table service. The Asian was the best out of all 4. Again, the main restaurant has a lot of choice but if you don’t go early it gets way too busy and is like feeding time at the zoo! Also, they sometimes serve you drinks and other times don’t, I think the main problem here is they don’t have enough staff. The drinks are average and all of the cocktails are premixed in machines and hardly contain any alcohol and as mentioned previously the swim up bars are covered in flies which is quite unhygienic. They are also very crowded. The bar staff sometimes give you something you didn’t even ask for as well. The entertainment is average at best, the shows are all lip-sang by the entertainment team and they have Kahoot quizzes about the most bizarre subjects. This would be much more enjoyable if it was just general knowledge questions. However we went to the white party on the Friday night which was a brilliant atmosphere which we enjoyed. The karaoke is also really good. The rooms are spotless and we cannot fault the maids who clean the rooms, I also must say that the toilets in and around the hotel are always clean and are monitored constantly throughout the day, however, the corridors in the room blocks and around the pool area could be improved. The corridors to the rooms are a bit grotty, we saw dead insects, glasses left on the sides for days and dust just brushed into corners. We never saw anyone mopping the corridors. The hotel and staff were very good. The hotel is very spacious with the most sun-beds I have ever seen. There must be 700/800. There are numerous pools with two having swim-up bars. The food is good in the buffet restaurant. The specialist restaurants are as per RIU ones around the world….they try their best but……not quite there The entertainment team are brilliant and really get the guests to get involved. The keep-fit sessions in the pool attract up to 70 people…..good fun The weather was great with a really pleasant breeze and not a wind as described by other tourists…not while I was there anyway So now to the bad part…the flies ….eating outside was not an option for me. Some other residents had fly-repellant fans which were great. These could not be purchased at the hotel. Around the pool the flies continually attacked you and the swim-up pools were a magnet for them . Even on the return trip home we were bombarded at the airport and…even worse…loads got on the plane and we took them back to Gatwick…nightmare . Apparently this is because of the wet season. So best not to go between August to October as this is the worst time So overall it was a great holiday and `I would return….November at the earliest
