Travelodge Merthyr Tydfil Hotel

Good location a few places to eat and drink very close by. The receptionist Sophie is a real credit to the place. So helpful and goes above and beyond to help you out. Need more staff like her in the world.

Good hotel. The parking is easy as long as you arrive before 5pm approx, but otherwise you can park three within the entire leisure park. We stayed 4 nights.

Hotel was nice & clean. Had a bed & shower & a kettle that is all we needed as we spent very little time in the room as we was out doing adventures. Hiking, Steam Train, Waterfalls, Running, Zip Line so on. Hotel staff was friendly & helped me with what I asked them. Hotel location is on a retail park so if you wanted food on the door step was ideal & town centre was only few mins walk / drive. Only 1 thing take your own pillows maybe our pillows was hard & lumpy & the staff said they had no spares which I think is weird not to stock some.

Very enjoyable stay. The hotel, room and bathroom was very clean. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. A massive plus point in been able to be allowed to have my bike in the room with me as I was visiting bike park wales. Only complaint I would have is in my room I could hear a constant humming noise (not loud but noticeable at night) coming from a generator or something. Also the weather was bad and a leaking gutter ment the rain water was dripping outside my window which impeded sleep. Apart from this very enjoyable stay would happily stay here again when I return to bike park wales.

Although Travelodge have tried to up their game, it was felt that they are still lacking in many areas. The shower gel was like water, no room clean during our two night stay, including no coffee top up, and very noisy in the morning, with self close (slamming) doors. The staff were very friendly, and gave advice on where to go, when asked, but disappointingly, they deliberately overbook, like certain airlines, resulting in us seeing a couple being turned away, at 2200, because there were no rooms available, even though they had booked and paid for it. Again, the staff were very helpful, but can you imagine how it must have felt. There used to be also no hair dryers available, which my wife has told me is very important to women. All that said, we would probably stay again, as the price is reasonably good.

We enjoyed our stay, travel lodge does what it says on the tin.. we were very happy to have a bed and hot water after a long week of camping
