Evolution Dive and Beach Resort

My wife and I did our rescue diver course at Evolution, and stuck around to do a few days of diving with sharks and exploring nearby islands and local dive sites. We absolutely loved our time diving with Evolution and the passion for what they do is very clear. From the management to captain, from the reception to the waiting staff, everyone was positive, professional, and welcoming. They are clear about expectations underwater, for the safety of the environment and the divers. Everyone had a very very clear passion for marine life and the local ecosystem. I loved how flexible they were at Evolution - allowing us to change dives depending on how we were feeling, and not charging us a deposit when I was was sick, instead just allowing us to change the dates of our dives as we wished. I've been sick on a diving holiday before and had to miss dives and have still been charged, so to be able to just pick new days was amazing. For our rescue diver course, our instructor Kleng (shout out to the legend!) made our practical skills fun and kept it light-hearted, giving us roles as the victims and challenges to test our fellow rescuers skills. He was super friendly throughout and did a thorough review with during surface intervals and at the end of the day. Kleng also helped me do my EFR refresher course, even after he had spent a whole day diving.Our other dive guides, Albert and Harvey, were friendly, professional, and made us feel safe in the water. I was happily surprised by the value for money of the local dives, which includes Kimud Shoal, where you'll find the thresher sharks. This and their flexibility allowed me to decide on our last day to do the shark dive again! An oatmeal and banana breakfast was included between dives at Kimud Shoal, and a big lunch (with gluten free/vegan/vegetarian options) is also included when doing a day trip to the outer islands. We didn't stay at Evolution so can't speak for the rooms, but the restaurant was amazing and, again, had gluten free options for my wife. The happy hour deals on the cocktails aren't bad either! If we were to go back to Malapascua, be it to see the threshers again or to do a divemaster internship, we would head straight back to Evolution, no questions asked!

We just finished a 10-day scuba dive trip on Malapascua Island in the Philippines at Evolution Beach and Dive Resort. Our sole purpose was for the opportunity to see thresher sharks, which exceeded our expectations! We are fortunate enough to have had experience diving all over the world with many different scuba diving operations, from beach entries to liveaboards. While the Evolution’s resort facilities were adequate and their restaurant food (Craic House) was good, their treasure is their scuba operation (the staff from all of the above were wonderful). We completed 35 dives (from early morning thresher shark dives to night dives). They offered an optional daily mix of thresher shark dives, macro dives, and night dives, to a variety of local sites and nearby islands. The eight guides we had were amazing! They were all tech certified and knowledgeable, but more importantly they knew each site well and respected the reef and marine life. For those interested, Evolution offers an abundance of training courses. Their dive operation is a busy place, for good reason. I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience there. On top of that, we saw the beautiful thresher sharks, up close!

My sister and I did our Advanced scuba qualification here and had a brilliant time. Gino, our instructor, was very patient and helpful to us. The dive master trainees were also great helps, and the boat crews were very kind. Would definitely recommend for any dive experience!

My sister and I spent the last few days completing our AOW course with Evolution. Gino was our instructor and Luke was our DMT. The whole process from the emails to book right up until the end was super streamlined and professional. Gino and Luke were fantastic to have with us under and above the water. I felt safe and supported from the in depth brief and debriefings before and after each dive. I had a brilliant time on all my dives, learnt so so much and this has only made me more excited for the next opportunity to dive and explore the world underwater. The standout was of course the insane opportunity to dive to see Thresher Sharks, which Gino led wonderfully to ensure that we felt safe but also very respectful of the sharks home. Thanks so much to the whole team, I truly can’t wait to return. It was epic !!

Very well run beach front resort with friendly and efficient staff. Spacious rooms with effective and quiet a/c, powerful ceiling fan, comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. Restaurant serves tasty, good quality food, quickly, even when busy. Excellent owner operated dive operation offering comprehensive training for every level of experience. I completed the advanced trimix class with Matt Reed who proved to be an excellent instructor and educator. Highly recommended.

This place is awesome. Incredibly professional! Leif, my instructor, is unbelievable! He has tons of experience, not only diving (of course), but as a school teacher. He is kind and amazingly thorough--and instructional skills are top notch! Evolution is one of a kind! The place is gorgeous and very very well taken care of. I didn't stay there but the rooms look awesome. The owner Matt is a legend. And Leif is a gem- they are blessed to have him! Look no further- you found your dive center. :)
