The room was clean and the price was reasonable, but the front desk experience left a very negative impression and ruined the start of my trip.
When I checked in, a woman at the front desk, probably in her late 30s, tried to take a photo of my face without giving any explanation. I asked, “Why are you taking a picture? Other hotels didn’t do this,” but she ignored me and turned to another female staff member to ask, “Aren’t we not supposed to take photos?” Her response felt evasive and unprofessional.
I had booked two non-smoking rooms, but one of them clearly smelled like smoke. I asked why I wasn’t informed in advance that one room wasn’t non-smoking, but again, she acted like she didn’t understand what I was saying. She also didn’t provide any information about breakfast—where it was served or what time—until I asked specifically. Even then, her answers were vague and unhelpful.
Previous reviews mentioned friendly front desk service and helpful communication via WeChat, which made me look forward to staying here. However, the staff member I encountered was not friendly at all, and I couldn’t see any of the great service others had described. It made me wonder if those reviews were even genuine.
While the room itself was clean and the value for money was decent, the front desk employee’s attitude made a terrible first impression. I hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves its service standards.
