Today, I have landed back home after spending amazing week at this family-run hotel. I can definitely tell you that it was one of the best holidays I have ever had, filled with nice people and great Greek weather. The hotel is located very conveniently, you have a lot of shops and restaurants nearby. Lidl is just 5-7 min walk. Next to the hotel there was a great coffee shop- Move on. Next to the hotel there is a bus stop which will take you to Chania city centre for a nice promenade and a delicious dinner. Hotel itself is of an apartment style with amazing pool which was always well-maintained and clean. Every day the girls made sure that our room is clean and we have new towels, and they were making quite impressive compositions from flowers and towels😁 The manager of the hotel was extremely friendly and always dealt efficiently with any requests we had. Breakfast was delicious and overall our stay was extremely enjoyable. Definitely visit this hotel to feel the amazing Greek hospitality.

Booked last minute, liked the look of the location. Better than hoped for. All amenities close, shops, buses, bars and restaurants. Off the main road, so quiet. Lovely pool area, nice room for budget range. Beach and main town both close. For the price, hard to fault. Would definitely go again.

Nireas Hotel solo stay for 3 nights. I actually love this place in a quirky sort of way. It's not 5 star but I knew that with the reviews and before booking it. I echo some of the reviews it really is a hidden gem. The grounds and pool are kept clean. Pool is a tad cold, but once in it with the sun it's perfect. Rooms are a bit dated and could possibly do with a refurbishment.  I hired a car for 35 Euros plus 10 for a day. Easy to book through the reception. Loads of amenities, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. I walked down to the beach took me 15 minutes but I've got a dodgy knee. The beach is amazing  All in all lovely owners and staff.

First of all it’s April. We’ve had some lovely days but also a few cloudy and cold ones. But as I said it’s April. The pool has been chilly Chania is just a few miles away (Doratso is really just a suburb of Chania) and only 10 mins on the bus. It’s an amazing town. Full of history and lovely people. The harbour area is beautiful and it’s backed up by small streets that are easy to navigate and a great place to lose some hours. The hotel itself is really good. The rooms are modern and comfortable. The beds are snuggly and for self catering in Greece (and I’ve done a few) it’s pretty good! Loads of local shops nearby. A few decent tavernas but get into Chania where the choice is x100…. The local beaches (only a few mins walk away) are stunning. The Greeks all come to them so that should tell you everything. The only thing I would say is that it can be very busy! You’re just off a main road. Industrial car sales and very large supermarkets. (so food shopping is easy) For me that’s the only reason I wouldn’t come back. I’d love to see it in August or July…Apart from that I can’t fault it and if you’re coming to Crete then Chania is a must! And the apartments are top drawer including the all the staff which are lovely.

We had a lovely stay at the Nireas hotel from the 24th September until 4th October. Our arrival and getting keys was easy. Christos was very helpful throughout the holiday. The apartment was cleaned every day. The pool and bar area, kept clean at all times, work was carried out continuously to keep the garden areas tidy. We had a great holiday x

Really impressed by the apartment we stayed in and the level of service provided by the owner and staff. We arrived really late after missed flights and a long delay, although the reception was closed the owner had left a note on the door with very clear instructions how to find the apartment. The apartment itself was quite spacious and looked as though it had been updated recently with everything we needed, the grounds were spotless as was the apartment, the service lady came every day and there was always fresh towels, bedding and she did a super job each time. We opted for breakfast on a couple of occasions which was quite reasonable with a buffet style selection, lots of fresh fruit, eggs, omelette, greek sausage, coffee, juice ect. Although the setting was just off the main road, the complex was really quiet and relaxing with good quality sleep. Location was good for main bus route to Chania, shops and restaurants on doorstep. About 10min walk to a lovely beach. I would definitely recommend.

We arrived in June 2024 at this lovely Hotel. The Accomodation and setting lovely. Very clean and spacious apartment, with comfortable beds and hot water in shower. Could do with updating, but no complaints there. Sampled the breakfast was very nice. Very disappointed that the Pool Bar was hardly ever opened, no draft beers or Ice creams. We were told to ring or WhatsApp Christos if we wanted the Bar open. Not easy to socialise when the Pool Bar is not operating.

What a restful, peaceful holiday. We have been coming to the Greek islands for over 23 years, the Nireas has been one of our favourite places. The owner Christos is helpful and always willing to help in every way. Our room was attended to regularly and kept very clean. The pool was cleaned daily, staff were delightful. The ideal place for a quiet and peaceful stay.

Stayed here for a week 1st September, we had a great time the hotel is just what we wanted clean and simple, Christos was very helpful, we hired a car from the hotel it was cheaper than those on the Main Street he was helpful in telling us where to visit, Marked it out on the map for us and we wasn’t disappointed on what he suggested, will definitely go back, thanks for having us

We arrived in beautiful Chania and were dropped off on the main road opposite the little track up to the Nireas. I had read TA reviews so knew to expect that Christos, the owner, would offer us a room upgrade but we were happy with our original room which was Apt 24 on the ground floor with a fantastic large balcony opening straight onto the pool area. We paid €5 a night for air con which was really powerful, and €10 for the safe. The room was dated but more than adequate for us as we are used to Greek accommodation. There were 2 beds pushed together and then a single bed near the door which my son slept in. There was a 2 ring hob, microwave and kettle and basic utensils but we only ate breakfast in the apartment so it was more than enough. I think you would struggle to conjure up a Cordon Bleu meal though but with so many fabulous restaurants on the doorstep, it wasn’t a worry for us. There were a few things that made us chuckle…. the apartment door had been hung the wrong way so the handle was inside the room and not on the outside 🤣 and the usual Greek plumbing scenario with the shower head on the wall but the shower screen on the other side of the shower meaning the floor got soaked 🫣 but hey, it’s Greece 🇬🇷 The maid came in every day except a Sunday and the sheets/towels were changed regularly. There was a drying rack on the patio for hanging wet beach stuff up. Plenty of socket points and the beds were super comfy. The pool area was quiet but we only used it in the afternoons once we came back from the beach. There were always sunbeds and Christos was either there or available by WhatsApp. The WiFi worked fine in our rooms and by the pool. Kato Doratso is a residential suburb just 4km outside of Chania so a perfect location for us. Just down the little road from the hotel is a supermarket on the corner for all your essentials/bottles of water. There were 4 beaches within walking distance and we chose Sunset Beach due to the stunning clear water. It’s a bay so no tide and it was shallow for a great way out meaning our son could happily swim and play without us worrying too much. There was a bar on the beach and the owner did a mean Freddo Cappuccino ☕️ 👌🏽 You could buy salads, hot snacks and sandwiches, ice creams, crisps and drinks there. There were also chargeable sunbeds and parasols and you could hire a kayak or paddle board. There was another shop near the start of the hotels to the left of the bay. We bought a couple of parasols from the shop and lay on the beach. It was full of local families and we thoroughly enjoyed mixing with them. The bus into Chania is the #21. Come out of the hotel, down onto the main road and take a right along the path. Just past the car garage there’s a bus stop and a ticket machine. You need the exact change and it’s €1.10 each into town (€2 if you pay on the bus) When you are is in Chania, as you get off, there’s a ticket machine and a kiosk to buy return tickets and you can catch the bus back

We visited here in June 2023 We checked in with the owner and were allocated our room All I can compare it to is maybe 1960 ‘s style room at a holiday camp (terrible) Dirty bath and shower curtain After speaking to the owner I was told it was a basic room 😂 I argued that wasn’t the room I was shown in the brochure and I wasn’t staying in it He finally said we could change rooms but for 168 euros he also charged us £80 For air con even though I found out later we shouldn’t have been , as was did notice it happened there was nothing in the brochure about a charge The pool was cleaned once while we were there and was getting dirtier by the days , there were pebbled steps into it full of mildew Also when we checked in the owner gave us his WhatsApp number and said we could contact him anytime I didn’t realize at the time it was if we wanted a drink at the bar 😮 It was basically a 1 man show Checking people in doing the bar etc There was an ice cream fridge near the bar but when I went over to get 1 all that was in it was a white sheet he said it wasn’t filled because it had been the weekend Needless to say it wasn’t restocked the whole time we were there Also when we asked about the TUI rep visiting we were told there hasn’t been one since Covid The room we were given for the extra money I couldn’t fault but there was no way we should have been given the first room We did notice people being moved a few times while we were there so maybe a SCAM going on

This was the best holiday I’ve had!! We stayed at the Nireas Hotel and Christos the hotel manager was AMAZING!! He works so hard and always helps when he can! All the staff were so polite and even if they didn’t speak English always smiled at you. I’m booking for next year 100%. The pool was so clean and there wasn’t a rush for the sunbeds! The breakfast was sooooo good a nice small selection and fresh that day! The rooms were clean and everything you need in a hotel room to be honest! The beach is only 10 minute walk down the hill and there are so many restaurants in walking distance. It’s so quite at night because the hotel is off the main round which is ideal. There is a cockrell nearby but unless your a really light sleeper there’s nothing to worry about!

This hotel was by far one of the 3* hotels we’ve stayed in Crete. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds so comfortable. Rooms were cleaned every day except Sunday and each day there there was a beautiful towel display on our beds shaped as hearts and swans and fresh petals on, something we have only experienced in 5* hotels. Christos was so helpful and informative and offered us some fresh fruit on our 1st morning there. The pool and gardens are immaculate and never had to worry about a sun bed as there were always plenty available. We had a 1 bed apartment on the ground floor with a patio of about 20 feet long with table and chairs. My mum who is 92 had her own very comfortable bed in a separate partitioned area. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and 2 lovely beaches with places to eat next to them. Dimitris and Stakis taverna was our favourite great choice of food and cocktails. The golden bay hotel and restaurant open to none guests had a great choice of snacks and I would highly recommend the Baileys, Kalua and ice cream shake. We will definitely be booking to return to the Nireas next year.
