Historic pub in the middle of town. Great location and close to everything. Staff were great and very helpful. Room on top floor was large with king sized bed. Clean and well appointed with a great shower. Only recommendation for bathroom would be instal some flat surface to place your toiletries on as had to put everything on the floor. Shame the place doesn’t do breakfast as we had to go out every morning to a cafe. They do evening meals and the battered king prawns were very tasty. Bear in mind this place is very old therefore access to room especially top floor are not accessible to anyone with mobility issues. All in all a very pleasant stay.

This place needs a massive financial investment it is quite dated and dreary. My room had a window that can’t be closed as too old and so a double glazed board has been attached over the old window. The place is clean and the staff are welcoming. Breakfast is a very limited cold selection but with good quality hot food.On Thursday there was live music only til 9.30 but please be aware the bedrooms over the music can barely hear the TV over the noise. It is centrally located but I would not return the road outside is noisy quite early in the morning which is also not great.

Paid for 2 nights in this hotel , upon arrival we were told they do not do food anymore as there is no staff , no breakfast , was meant to be a luxurious inn , absolutely nothing luxurious about it other than the bed was comfortable , was clean but the only good thing to say , room was like a oven teeny weeny window , and the church bells going off every hour , defiantly not worth £300

Stayed for a weekend and took two of the best rooms on the top floor which is the third floor. The place just has a dirty feel to it — carpets are filthy where their staff traipse upstairs from the kitchen to use the toilet all evening long (see the photo of the filthy carpets). It’s a very old building and there’s one staircase / fire exit, no fire exit signs upstairs and it feels like if there was a fire then there’s no chance of getting out. My review might make it seem like I’ve got some kind of grievance but I really don’t; I’d just avoid staying here if you possibly can.

Went to the Severn Stars bar for Sunday lunch,thought it was expensive to start with until the meal came out...one off the best Sunday Roast We have ever had.Staff were very helpful.thank you. would recommend this bar to everyone,and would go back next time were in Dartmouth

Stayed one night while walking the SWCP excellent evening meal of in the bar of moules frites well kept Jail Ale and Otters. Comfortable room (2) with a good shower, tea making facilities, fridge and a TV Do not offer breakfast, but there are lots of places nearby that do.

One night stay staff were friendly and helpful - I called to say we would arrive late a table was reserved for us food was superb with great choice. A delightful bar / restaurant with gorgeous homely pub feel to match the location. Our room was great with everything you would expect at a reasonable price

Well done Jamie and Sam. The best meal ever! Top quality pizza and tapas. So nice to have something different than the ‘normal’ pub food. Shared Billy Goat pizza and a selection of tapas. Can’t wait to come back again with friends. Lovely atmosphere and cosy.
