Returned for another stay, the location, rooms and staff are all as good as ever, thankfully. However, the restaurant has of course been changed and is currently half the size it was. This results in an area too small for the number of guests using it. It ends up noisy, and some areas, particularly the centre carousel type arrangement means diners are shoulder to shoulder, and we saw quite a few guests reject the offer of seating there and going elsewhere outside the main restaurant to eat in some cases, or moving tables when one of the few slightly more spaced out tables became available. Zephyr is simply too small, but is apparently going to be extended we are told??. Also check your booking, I booked for dinner when I made the room reservation and emailed a few weeks before arrival to check all bookings has been transferred from the previous River Restaurant and was assured they had. Arrived on first night, not booked in, so produced my email confirmation to prove, then some further confusion and an eventual acceptance that we were indeed booked in !!. Breakfast on the balcony, if weather permits is a good option to avoid Zephyr. No extra charge for that and no 12.5% service charge as is the case with dinner, although it is optional whether to pay it. The closed off remains of the River Restaurant lies idle, not making any money! and would surely be better off fully converted to Zephyr, to space everything out. From talking to reception there was clear awareness that there has been quite a bit of feedback about the restaurant, so we are not alone. Whether we return again likely depends on more spacing out, it's a good job we don't have social distancing as such at the current time!.
