The Henry, Autograph Collection

First time in Henry by Autograph, a very classy classic hotel property, great service. Staying here since middle of last week and still a few days more to go. But it’s important to share issues faced here which is probably a process defined in this particular case. I have been leaving my laundry filling out the form diligently every day… but no one cares to pick despite it being prominently propped up every single day… this is odd. Second most important stuff happened today, I always press my clothes prior evening and use the iron and the ironing board was trying the same just now only to realize that the iron had some melted material stuck on the ironing surface, I never expected this to be a possibility as I was just pressing my expensive shirt and found a stain mark on shirt and looked at the iron base in horror to see a patch of dark material stuck, which now melted or something and stained shirt I have complained to the reception team and they said they will replace my board and iron and am waiting …… not even sure who will pay for the shirt now … Professionalism is an opportunity for sure and house keeping standards in ensuring all equipment offered to guests are working and in the very least doesn’t damage guest requirements .

Nice property for the most part. I believe the room we stayed in this visit needs to be updated. Rooms in previous stays here did not seem to show as much age as this one did. Everyone was very nice and courteous. Depending on where you look, some resources list this hotel as a 4 star and others a 4.5 star hotel. I would not rate this hotel past a 3 star.

Everything was great in the hotel Until one Valet Parking ( Bernard) very mean Very unprofessional Did not want to park my vehicle in the same place that I had it parked in the last couple of days under the shade It wasn’t a big problem until I came back to take my wallet from the car And I don’t know the reason but he changed my ticket ( valet ticket) and then insisted to remove the car and I did not want to negotiate with him So I told him do whatever you want I went to speak to the front desk Where she agreed that she does not want from me a bad complaint Since I am an Ambassador Elite in the chain and she will manage And no need to worry. 3 hours later I came down to watch the fireworks and I saw another car parked in the place under the shade So I did not speak to him and I went directly to the front desk where she told me that this a customer at the restaurant ( so staying for 2 hours) They let a visitor park in the only spot I asked for The funny thing is The front desk letting me speak to someone on the phone to calm me down It turns out he is the security in the building and did not add anything but made it worse And made my problem worse Imagine a simple request was not met because they let the mean Valet driver do what he wants I don’t want to say anything about other Valet ppl in the hotel Because I met several people and they were all great Again My problem in this hotel that made me give a 1 Star was Bernard from valet

Summary: The Henry is really trying, but it does not quite rise the level of an Autograph Collection Hotel. There are lots of things to like, but some service issues as well. My wife, son, and I recently stayed for four nights while visiting Dearborn. First, the good. The common areas and hallways are beautiful with all the art. The service at the restaurant and bar truly amazing. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms themselves are standard in terms of size and amenities. When we arrived, we checked in just after midnight after a late and long flight from the West coast. The room was under my wife's name, who is a lifetime Marriott Titanium member. We were assigned a room on the second floor. After we got to the room and quickly went to bed, it sounded like there was a car alarm going off. This was a noise you could hear over the A/C fan and a white noise generator on our phone. Given that it was so late, we decided not to go back to the front desk and change rooms. My son needed sleep. The next day we asked to change rooms at the front desk and were told the hotel was completely full but they could send engineering to take a look at the issue. The guy from engineering came and said that our room was directly above the boilers on the first floor and that was what was causing the sound. He also said that chiller stacks were right outside the window, which also makes noise. With the engineer in the room, we called the front desk on speakerphone and he explained the situation. The front desk still insisted there was nothing they could do because the hotel was full. At one point my wife mentioned that she was a titanium member and the front desk then said she would find another room for us and put someone else who had not checked in into our room. She moved us up to the 11th floor into a room that was very quiet and comfortable. I'm not sure why we were assigned a room over the boiler in the first place? On a side note, not really a big deal, but there was a half open can of Fanta soda in the refrigerator when we arrived in our 2nd floor room. Also, the light bulb in the 11th floor room for the desk lamp did not work. The ice machine on the 11th floor also did not have any ice. The other major issue we had with this hotel was the club lounge. The woman who worked in the morning really did not appreciate people coming in at 9:00 a.m. for breakfast (which is supposed to end at 9:30am.) It wasn't just us, there was another family from the West Coast who came at the same time and had the same experience. There was very little food left on the buffet and the woman did not want to be bothered to get more food. This happened for two days in a row. For example, I asked for more fruit to be brought out when there was none left. She said that she would have to check with the kitchen on the first floor. I insisted and suddenly more fruit showed up 3 minutes later. On the second day the coffee machine was out of coffee. My wife brought over a cup to

Excellent breakfast and excellent gym. Breakfast buffet is better than standard continental options and the gym is well equipped. The location is convenient to go downtown but also there is a nearby mall and downtown Dearborn. Definitely will stay here again!

Friendly check-in after Lyft ride from the airport. No upgrade was available for Titanium Elite. I tried to use upgrade awards on the Bonvoy app first said I could then later changed to could not. Curious I got an email asking me to pay for an upgrade. The room was adequate with daily cleaning, which was much appreciated. M Club is closed on weekends. However, you do get a voucher for a nice breakfast buffet. Clean pool and workout area. No where close for dinner the house car ran by the valet is hit and miss, able to get ride to dinner within 5 miles, needed to call Lyft to get back to hotel.

We attended a church retreat here and it was fantastic. Rooms are nice, clean and quiet (except 11th floor where BTH fans run continuously yet did not affect sleep if you close the door). Breakfast was /Users/calvinchin/Downloads/IMG_1377 2.JPGgood and bar service too. Staff friendly and location is only 18-20 minutes to airport and Detroit. Good meeting rooms and business enter and has a pool and okay fitness room.

I love the idea of this quaint, beautiful, fun, hip hotel but you are secluded if you don’t have transportation. The hotel does have a vehicle to drive you short distances if need be. The Henry is located in a business district. The only thing within walking distance is a run down mall. And I personally don’t feel comfortable walking alone to the mall at night. Great gym but it would be even better if the Peloton and Echelon worked to their full potential. I think the gym is lagging when it comes to wifi. If in the area again I would stay for a quick overnight,
