Interesting place to stay!! arranged by santiago ways. The approach along the driveway, was off putting with a 6ft wire fence fencing off the garden and bbq areas. Signs saying do not enter/private along the fences. Garden and weeds were all very overgrown and very untidy. Rosa, was nice enough but language was an issue. We were shown our room which was very outdated, but clean. We were made to feel like we couldn’t leave our room/floor. So we sat outside on the front step. As it’s far from town we had to eat there. Dinner was expensive and basic. And we were only shown the kitchen/dinner area when we were told dinner was ready. The house had a creepy vibe and made us feel uneasy. Other people who stayed that night also expressed their feelings of uneasiness.

Rosa was such a lovely host, so welcoming, made us feel so welcome. Lovely food, nice to eat with the other guests. Good food, lovely wine. Great omelettes for breakfast, she was so accommodating with our request for one of our party who is vegan, she was lovely

We came with Santiago Ways. The weather was extremely hot and humid. The accommodation is very basic and a bit run down. There is no A/C which is to be expected. However the hostess, Rosa, was so warm, welcoming, and helpful with information about the Camino. The heat was unbearable but Rosa provided a fan for my room and my sons room. Without the fan, we would have does of heat. But the fans worked great and we slept comfortably! Breakfast was homemade chorizo omelette with toast and 4 different kinds of homemade jam. Yum! Others say not to eat in Itziar but I disagree. We found a wonderful place for lunch. And then we walked the EXTREMELY STEEP 1 mile downhill to Deba for dinner which was a huge mistake. The food was “meh” and then we could not find a taxi to get back to Itziar! The waiter had to call his friend to take us back! (Which he did — a lovely example of Basque generosity)

Place was choosen by SantiagoWays, presumably for the equidistance in their tour planning. Dinner was very expensive for the quality; try to eat elsewhere, it is far away from restaurants. Quiet, dark room, very low ceiling for my size. Furniture style my grandparents had. TV remote controls were missing. Empty insect spray cans standing around. The shower worked for 15 s, then the pump stopped working. The bathroom was depressing. Breakfast not great, forzen Baguette heated in the microwave. Teabags all flavours in one box. Was glad to leave after one night.

Fine for a night along the camino. Dinners are very expensive for the quality; try to eat elsewhere for it is far from restaurants. Quiet, dark room. Breakfasts okay, not great. Hostess friendly. Dogs around but not so friendly.

Nous avons passé 2 jours merveilleux : la propriétaire est toujours à notre service, plus que gentille et fait vraiment tout pour faire plaisir. La literie est bonne, les douches impeccable et surtout l environnement rural avec vue sur la mer est génial et très silencieux. La cuisine y est très bonne tout est fait maison

Passamos uma noite, chegando de bicicleta bem tarde. Fomos muito bem recebidos pela proprietária, Dona Rosa. Não estava previsto jantarmos, uma vez que nossa saída de San Sebástian atrasou 6 horas. Fez na hora uma refeição, com sopa de entrada e saladas. Quartos muito limpos. Recomendo este hostel.
