Very comfortable and clean hotel in centre of Desenzano. Good fresh breakfast. Lovely Lake view from roof top terrace. Helpful staff.

Me and my husband spent a week at this hotel in may. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels, there was enough room and storage space for us both. There is only one floor with rooms on each side at the end of the corridor is a sun roof with beds which look out over the square.There is no pool.Two small flights of stairs to rooms ( no lift). Continental Breakfasts were nice, always enough to eat. Where the hotel is located is ideal which ever door you come out of (there are 2 ) you are only 2 minutes from main drag where all the shops and restaurants are. And there are plenty. You’re a few minutes from the bus station which takes you all over, and the same to the ferry which takes you all round the lake. There’s a big market on a Saturday. Couldn’t fault this hotel or the location would definitely recommend it.

We had a great time at the Astoria! We spent 4 nights here early September 2023 Very clean, helpful friendly staff, great location. The hotel is basic and the decor may be a little outdated (but I found it quite charming 70’s vibes I particularly enjoyed the gold lift) but I really can not find fault. We felt very comfortable here. Very clean environment, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The air con was also brilliant. Breakfast was simple but again I can’t fault what was provided. Fresh baked croissants, toast, cereals, cakes, ham and cheese, Eggs, tea coffees and fruit juices. They also have a lovely roof terrace with chairs and sun loungers. The location was great literally a minute or so to a little pebble beach. A 10 minute walk along the lake to the boats that take you across to the other towns. Very close to some great bars and restaurants Thank you for a great stay!

AVOID! The little man who oversees/rules breakfast with an iron fist yelled and swore at me. What horrendous behaviour did I engage in, what faux pas, what cultural norm did I inappropriately break I hear you ask? I asked for a clean cup! Yes, haven drunk tea from one cup, I asked for a clean cup for coffee. When Basil Fawlty refused to give me a clean cup I removed one from an empty table, this pushed him into an apoplectic rage in which he stood over me screaming and swearing then proceeded to berate me to 2 other guests. On the bright side it was really amusing watching him fawn over the other guests as he followed them around the dining room, he cornered a poor German man and thrust a sausage at him with the man protesting with a clear no. If you like Karen's diner then this is the place for you...though don't argue back or as you can see from previous posts he will threaten to remove you from the hotel. On a positive note the evening receptionist, Amir, and the woman who cleaned the room were model employees.

A really quiet and lovely hotel. Josef the owner was very kind when I was unwell with anaemia and looked after me. Really close to the amenities, nice breakfast and comfortable bed. The roof terrace was very pretty too with a lovely view of the lake.

We weren’t bothered that the hotel was described as dated, having read other reviews, as often that has its own charm in Italian hotels. Unfortunately this hotel isn’t run by Italians so that’s where the charm vanishes. Run by some very rude and arrogant men it is strange and inhospitable. We definitely felt uncomfortable as two women friends. The breakfast buffet was poor with limited choice and they have a strange practice of leaving all the dirty crockery etc until the very end of the service period. So you sit surrounded by dirty plates on all the tables.

Location - 5-10 mins walk to Desenzano Town, you can also take a boat for €6 return to Sirmionie. Loads of restaurants and boutique shops, the lake is also right there. Hotel/Room - Hotel a little dated, the rooms were clean and had air con, good wifi. Food: Continental breakfast, was ok. Staff: Very friendly and helpful! 😊

Hello just a warning about the aggressive unhinged owner who told me I was crazy but he was crazier and threatened to throw my possessions on the street I thought he was going to hit me . I stayed in April but so so traumatised by it all I only feel safe to post now avoid at all costs if you read older reviews you will see similar stories

Great location for the town and the lake. Everything within short walking distance, yet still quiet. No disturbance in the evenings. The room furnishings are old fashioned but we didn't mind and it's clean. Hotel staff super friendly and helpful!
