Fort Pontchartrain Detroit, a Wyndham Hotel

Lisa checked us in late Wednesday evening and my fiance and I were blown away by how kind, personable, informative, and helpful she was! She was inquisitive about our travels, made great conversation about the Pistons, and I cannot stress enough how she was possibly the most helpful concierge desk person I have ever had the pleasure of working with. My fiance is disabled and uses an electric wheelchair. Lisa made sure we knew that there were accessible rooms available to us if that were our preference, but since we were only staying the one night, she informed us that we could have the choice between a room with an accessible bathroom or a room with an outstanding view on account of the higher floor accessible rooms being under renovation. We decided the bathroom didn't need to be accessible since we were only going to be staying one night and chose the view. Boy, was it worth it! We stayed on the 22nd floor with a gorgeous view and an extremely spacious accommodation for a "non-accessible" room. It was a bit of a squeeze getting Ty's chair into the room itself, but once we were inside, it was one of the most comfortable hotel stays we have ever had and we have stayed at a LOT of hotels. There was plenty of space for Ty to move around freely and comfortably in the room without feeling like him and his chair were confined to one space. The storage was awesome. The chaise lounge at the window was an excellent touch. I could go on for way too long about how much we loved the room! Oh! The Roku TV that automatically signed us out at our checkout was so cool! I wish every hotel would ditch the basic cable packages and switch over to Smart TVs. Anyway, every employee we encountered was super friendly and helpful. Once again, a huge shout out to Lisa who helped us choose the room that worked best for us. Even with our late arrival and extremely brief stay, she made sure we knew exactly where every amenity was and when they would be accessible from the microwaves, to the gym, to the breakfast buffet. I cannot tell you how many times we have stayed at hotels and just had to wander around figuring things out for ourselves. Not to mention the fact that we have paid over double the rate we paid at the Wyndham Fort Pontchartrain and left a fraction as satisfied. We were truly blown away. The only "downside" to our stay was the cost of parking, but even that was reasonable for being right downtown in a major city. We travel to the Detroit area often and we will most certainly be back!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and professional. The only downside was the fee for parking which was $45 a night. We thought this was a bit steep. Otherwise, everything else was wonderful. We stayed in a one bedroom suite on the 24th floor. The room had great views and it was very comfortable.

Very nice hotel and the most convenient to Huntington Place. Staff was very nice and helpful. Room was nice and view was terrific, though bathroom was a little tight and shower leaked onto the floor, but not a huge issue. And thanks for having cable tv and not just streaming in the room!

I stayed with a friend for a convention and the hotel staff was amazing. Extremely helpful and courteous despite being super busy. Unfortunately because of our schedule I was unable to take advantage of all the incredible amenities offered at the hotel but I'm pretty confident I will be back. The beds were super comfortable, the sheets were a little rough but the mattress and pillows lent for a good night's rest. The heat/ac system was a tad loud but not enough to prevent me from sleep. The water in the morning wasn't the hottest but not cold either, I just like Hot water. Overall, perfect location and very nice hotel. Yes I'll stay again someday. -Kim

Staff is amazing! But not enough value or amenities for the price. No free coffee No free continental bkfast No garbage can in my room Refrigerator didn’t work The last guest’s washcloth was still in the shower Hair in the sink The moving latch on my door was broken off. I won’t be staying there again.

Great location. Close to People Mover and Q Line. Friendly staff. Rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet was atrocious. Overcooked pancakes. Edges were chewy: like beef jerky! Scones were raw inside. Eggs were dry, clumpy and overcooked. Management needs to seriously revamp the menu. Taste it and tell me it's worth $20. Visit local restaurants to see what is possible with fresh, properly cooked ingredients.
