Inn on the Shore

We stayed here for two nights, the rooms were lovely, and clean, with stunning sea views. The bar and restaurant very friendly, with yummy food. But the main positive was the fantastic staff, so friendly and helpful, they made our weekend away, and a special mention for Megan, what a credit she is to the Inn. Fantastic superior room with a view. Fantastic food and lovely staff. If I have one moan .. How on earth have the Americans voted him in again? ..but I guess that's nothing to do with the pub. We were well looked after by a staff team who are clearly appreciated. Thank you for a great stay

This pub is the friendliest pub we have been to, the drinks and food are great, very reasonable and the atmosphere is fantastic! The view is fantastic and the team do some great events for the village and their visitors. We will be back in December to visit again!

We were staying in Downderry for a Wedding at Polhawn Fort. We arrived Monday 28th October and had booked Inn on the Shore for that evening. Everything was very good, so much so that we decided to book again for Wednesday 30th for The Supper Club. We had to book for 6.45, which was a little early for us but decided to go with it. After we had ordered Dan C came and told us that 2 mains were off the supper club menu. We asked in those circumstances if we could have a main off the specials menu but still qualify for the supper club deal, Dan said he wasn't able to do that so we asked if we could speak to someone who could. Dan informed us he was the Duty Manager and there was no flexibility even though 2 mains had run out, Dan explained it was the time of year - end of October!, also there was only 2 on in the kitchen!! Not the customers problem but bad staff planning. We appreciate it was half term, however, we were slightly surprised as this was not long after 7! the Restaurant was not full so we questioned what they did at the height of the season. We ordered 2 mains from the Specials board and accepted that if we wanted a pudding we would have to pay full price. Well we waited and waited and waited, nobody came to our table to apologise for what was an unacceptable amount of time waiting. Our meals came at 7.50, when we had had to book for 6.45. What a Shame that this wasn't handled more professionally, if we had been kept informed it wouldn't have been so bad and we probably would have ordered a second bottle of wine. Lovely place, fantastic location but if this had happened on our first visit we certainly wouldn't have returned. Well done to the staff who were on duty on the 28th, it would only have been 2 stars if that evening hadn't gone well.

Renovated, but very small and maintenance missing. Room Tregantle e.g. was humid after showering, because the ventilation did not work and paint is peeling off. Wifi is weak and with the Sky service complicated. TV access disturbed. Food: Burger were made from paddies . Main Salad was good, but without bread . Overall. Pirice-ratio to our other stay on this trip not satisfying. For hikers: breakfast starts only at 8.30 a.m. They offered breakfast to go. View and sitting outside is great and you can go direct for a swim.

Had much anticipated our room with 'stunning sea view', hadn't realised it would mostly be across a busy beer garden where everyone could see into our room unless we had the blind & curtains shut! The noise from below the window was so loud, even with all the windows closed, that we could hear every word being said. As it got later and the drinkers below (group of 9 people) got louder I called to ask what time drinks were served outside until (Sun night). I was told until 11pm, and when I said it was loud in the room, the staff member just said thank you sarcastically and put the phone down on me. A different staff member also didn't seem to care when raised at checkout next morning. Whilst the room itself was nice and the breakfast was good it was certainly not worth the cost we paid for a superior sea view room. From other reviews here it seems that we were unlucky with our allocated room but I wouldn't recommend anyway due to the service received and lack of interest in guest comfort.
