Have been to the Panormos several times before but not for 9 years or so. Very little has changed although certain areas have been upgraded. The biggest USP about the hotel are the staff, they are absolutely brilliant and go out of their way to help and be friendly. All of the staff fit this category without exception. There are plenty of sunbeds but some guests decided to leave their towels on the bed 24/7, never taking them off, even if they were there for 3 or 4 weeks. Many of the guests are ‘returners’ who visit year after year. Due to this they know each other and form loud groups who ‘hog’ the pool, bar area and restaurant making it sometimes difficult to use these facilities. My BIG mistake was to book half board. The half board menu is abysmal with items including numerous pizzas, omelettes, burgers etc, not many Turkish dishes. The al la carte menu would have been far cheaper and there was definitely far more choice (including the opportunity to visit local restaurants). I did not think the standard of food was as good as on previous visits but this may have been due to being on the half board menu. No drink of any description was provided on the half board menu, not even a glass of water. The breakfasts are fine with quite a good choice including eggs any way you want cooked in front of you. Another problem was smoking in the restaurant with people continuously smoking and vaping on tables near others at all meal times. Whilst it is an open restaurant, this was most unpleasant. I'm sure there is a sign there for 'no smoking'. These annoyances aside, it is a cheap, cheerful hotel and well worth a visit.
