Friendly welcome and we enjoyed a few drinks at the bar before dinner (happy hour too, saving us £8!) Dinner was very good - game pie and a ham, egg & chips, both really tasty. Good room in The Barns, comfortable and very quiet with an excellent walk-in shower. Breakfast was top drawer; the full English and a bacon & mushroom omelette. Not sure there’ll be room for lunch today…

Maybe we got a bad day but - the 'maitre d' was unfriendly, young staff waiting at table clearly not trained to deal with any issues. We had a table in a dark corridor, not in the main part of the airy dining room. The food was VERY slow arriving and unremarkable, being served on chipped plates. We had main course and left. IF there had been a kitchen problem we should have been advised, not just left alone - the maitre d' passed our table many times without even checking in. A ruined golden WA - I complained afterwards and was offered a free bottle of prosecco on our next visit - which will NOT be happening.

Excellent place to break our journey to Yorkshire. Compact Barn room (book room 6 for the bigger bed) but perfect for a stop over. Spotlessly clean room and comfortable bed with nice linen. We stayed a Monday night which can make finding somewhere to eat tricky - but the pub was pleasantly busy. Food was lovely and good values and staff friendly and attentive. Also a good wine list. Breakfast also well cooked and generous.

We had the most brilliant time at The Dinton Hermit. We booked all the rooms for our wedding party, and they looked after us so well. The food (for 27 people!) was absolutely fantastic, the breakfast the next day beautiful, and the rooms really comfortable. We will be going back when we can!

Disappointing. Had a wonderful wedding weekend with friends and decided on Sunday buffet for 25 before heading home. Small space allocated, so we sat outside in the rain showers, buffet table poor, 4 pizzas , some salmony bites and a small bowl of Colesaw between 25. This was costed at £25 a head. They brought 2 more pizzas later, but overall very poor value for money and everyone went home hungry. The pizzas werent anything special either. Disappointed for the bride and groom who had funded it, and for me as I recommended it.

Stayed as part of bridal party pre next day wedding. Staff were so accommodating and could not have done more to make the bride to be feel very special. There was even a bunch of hand picked flowers by the manager and a personally written card for the future Mr and Mrs. Breakfasts were brought to the rooms so the bride could chill with her bridesmaids. Everything was just easy, rooms had everything you would expect and food was lovely. Parking was good and close to rooms so no lugging bags a long way.

Warm, welcoming staff. Fabulous room. Comfy bed. Spotlessly clean. Great food & ambiance. 2 night stay. Wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended The Dinton hermit. A huge thank you to Ben & Andrew who went above and beyond for us. A truly memorable stay. We are planning our next visit already. Thank you to everyone working in The Dinton Hermit. You are all just amazing.

We have now been here a dozen times or more and enjoy the Moogies welcome (and ale). It is well off the beaten track and we discovered it once after visiting Tiggywinkles. It is well worth finding. The food is excellent and will priced. I had the aranchini with mild curry sauce as a starter this time, an unusual combination and I was surprised how well they paired up. Previously I have had the excellent white bait, once again a little alternative to the usual pub style - but lovely. The Moogies Ales are reason enough to go a little out of your way. At one time Moogies had four pubs in a mini chain where they had saved the hostelries from closing. I believe the other three are now thriving under new management and this is the last bastion. The history of its name is great.The welcome and service is top notch. The outside patio, next to their kitchen garden, is wonderful and many of their herbs (& veg/fruit) are provided from their garden. Great parking so they're ticking all my boxes.
