Séjour incroyable

I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks. And it was a wonderful 2 weeks! Nice room, good food, great service. The staff is very smiling and friendly. I felt like home) Wonderful girls at the reception Intissar and Faiza - caring and kind and always smiling!) Thanks to all the hotel staff for a wonderful time, it was worth it!

I arrived at the hotel at about 1.15pm and was greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who checked me in and asked if I wanted lunch before going to my room. I chose lunch and enjoyed a very tasty couscous. After lunch I was shown to room 806, very clean, spacious and ground level, overlooking the pool. After unpacking I strolled to the sister hotel to meet the Easyjet rep,a lovely young lady who answered my questions and booked me on the excursion I had decided on before arriving. Dinner was fine , but I discovered there were no diet drinks at the bar. I'd actually bought a bottle of diet coke in the sister hotel, so it was easy to pop to my room and bring it to the bar. The very amenable barman was somewhat puzzled when I asked for a vodka on it's own. Obviously, they don't use optics here as I was presented with a glass almost full of vodka . Over the week, I had food I really enjoyed and some that wasn't to my taste, the sauted beef was extremly tough. The freshly cooked pasta was always tasty, as were the breakfast omelettes. The soups were mainly delicious and piping hot. Some of the other food was only warm, but this was clearly being addressed, as I often saw a staff member testing food temperatures with a thermometer. Entertainment in the hotel was low key, usually a vocalist or karaoke, which was fine with me. I did go across to the sister hotel one night for bingo, which I found rather busy. Generally,the staff were very pleasant and helpful, the don't speak much English, but they try hard to communicate with a smile. My room was kept spotlessly clean and the cleaning lady was really nice. The only unplasant person was the receptionist on the morning I left. My pick up was.at 6.50 am. I went into the restaurant at 6.40 to grab a croissant but nothing was.out. The receptionist asked why I had been in the restaurant , I explained and he told me it starts at 7am and promptly locked the restaurant door. I found that very strange as, on the day I went on an excursion, I went in the restaurant at 7am and a French family were finishing a hot breakfast . Obviously their eggs had been cooked well before 7am. One bad apple!!

Not what we expected. The hotel was advertised as adults only, this was a deciding factor on booking it, but it was full of children. Also, there was major building work taking place using heavy noisy equipment, something I think we should have been made aware of. The hotel caters for mainly French, so not many of the staff spoke English and all the menu's and food descriptions were in French. A small bar with very limited choice of drinks on an all inclusive package and tonic water had to be paid for, which I found very unusual, a cost of 9 dinar a can. I bought a load of cans from the supermarket for 1 dinar each and just ordered gin and ice from the bar. The entertainment was virtually non existent, consisting of the occasional singer and karaoke in the bar. Fortunately we could use facilities in the sister hotel next door, including the bars, but still had to pay for tonic water which add decent entertainment in the large bar and theatre. The room I had was very nice. It was ground floor with a nice terrace a few steps from a shallow pool and it was nice and quiet. The food was reasonable, but a lot of times it was cold. The animation staff were mainly situated in the hotel next door but they were very friendly and made an effort to include everybody in the activities. Getting around outside the hotel was easy. Taxis were plentiful and very cheap. Would I stay at this hotel again? No. I probably wouldn't stay in Gjerba again, I don't speak French so it was very difficult communicating with people as hardly anybody spoke English.

Just served me raw chicken i hope I don't get it serious bad and the beds are rock hard it's not 4 star more like 2 and a half max or even 1 .poor design lay out and full of French people who can't even speak English I mean who won the war right have some respect
