Very disappointed by the hotel which does not correspond to the other opinions on which I had based myself: the photos must be 20 years old because the paint, especially the exterior, is very faded and the price is not in line with the comfort of the hotel. My bathroom was rather rudimentary. In addition, I had a problem with theft of clothing which is still serious and a package which was delivered to me at the hotel with valuables disappeared even though the post office provided me with confirmation of receipt (day and time). I absolutely do not recommend this hotel

Very beautiful place, the best to see Varanasi. It is just near everywhere. I really enjoyed it . When I was on the roof an eagle came onmy head, magic. You can stay and will not regret. The reastaurant is good as well. I will go next year again. Go there

What a great place, a relaxing oasis in the middle of everything. Everybody from the reception to the waiter was very helpgul. Nice rooftop terrace where one can have breakfast/lunch/dinner weather permitting. My room with balcony and Ganges view was very stylishly decorated. The only downside was that the sound insulation towards the small courtyard where people were passing by was almost nonexistent. But would come again any time.

I’m really glad I picked to stay at Ganpati. It’s located right in the heart of the ghats in the pedestrian zone so very easy to walk ***** the ghats. The staff were very lovely and helpful, the food was great and especially the rooftop terrace overlooking the river. I’d go for the best room type you can as mine was pretty small, but overall a great stay.

Gorgeous setting in the old city, restaurant and a few rooms have lovely river views. Comfy beds, decent shower. Food was great and good value. It's not advertised but you can get a Kingfisher too. Staff really helpful. A good place to step out of the bonkerness of the old city.

The guest house is perfectly situated in the old part of town and it's view to the Ganges from some of the rooms is amazing. It also offers a quiet retreat from the noise and hustle and bustle of the streets. The staff is super friendly and I recommend highly to use their service of being picked up from the airport or train station. Otherwise it's pretty tricky to find the guest house. Their restaurant offers a wide range of alternatives and is a good option.

If you only want a fantastic view of the Ganges, all from your own terrace, stop reading now and click book; this is the place. If you want more than a very basic experience then ponder further. Poor maintenance - no shower holder; basin tap comes off in hand; floor ultra slippy when wet. No top sheet, sleep under old blanket. Unusable internet, need to use own SIM Curtains fall down when closed. 15 min walk to taxi - no worries but then either haul own luggage or pay their rip-off prices (five times the uber price exc. porter tip). Avoid tours - city tour = they book you a random taxi with a driver that doesn’t speak much English, who drives you to only half the listed sites and leaves you to it. It’s not a bad place - fantastic views, rooms clean, breakfast good (great views) … just an overwhelming feeling of being vastly overpriced for something basic…

Really beautiful and peaceful place. The decor in the rooms and communal areas is lovely. Great staff, fantastic service. I would also recommend trying the delicious food next door at the Varanasi café. I ate there every evening for 2 weeks. Lovely food and service, no bugs. They also offer a lovely cooking course. Both the expensive and the budget rooms are fantastic. Great porters and taxi drivers. I really hope I will be back at ganpati.

I spent 2 weeks in Ganpati Guesthouse and after a few days began to feel so much at home there. I like the communal spaces and incredible location, right in the heart of things, but also a peaceful refuge from the rest of the city. I felt very safe and cared for by the easygoing, friendly but professional staff who were very helpful, kind and caring. Highly recommend the guide, Balu who took me on a wonderful walking tour, he has such a gentle and generous manner and is full of local knowledge without being overbearing. I love the roof terrace restaurant and the lovely waiters - and I especially enjoyed the simple but lovely Indian food on the menu. I feel very at home in Varanasi - and the safe refuge of Ganpati is a huge part of that feeling. THANK YOU! I can't wait to come back.
